There is one court case that could determine the balance of power in American politics.
And this case could very well end up before the Supreme Court this fall.
That’s why Nancy Pelosi issued a challenge to the Supreme Court that could end Donald Trump.
The Trump administration made it clear it intends to continue the fight to add the citizenship question to the 2020 census.
Democrats are terrified that if President Trump emerges victorious that fewer illegal immigrants will answer the census.
That would deprive the Democrats of the ability to redraw Congressional district maps in states like Arizona, Florida, and Texas and turn them from solid red to part of the “blue wall” come election season.
Chief Justice John Roberts issued a ruling where he said the administration could include a citizenship question on the census, but he joined the Supreme Court’s four liberals in rejecting Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross’s stated rationale of wanting to better enforce the Voting Rights Act.
Roberts’ decision allowed the administration to try again.
And President Trump announced the administration would come up with a new rationale for the census question and try again in court.
The left panicked.
They thought when Roberts killed the question the first time that the fight was over and done with.
Now Democrats had to regroup and come up with a new strategy for round two of this fight.
Led by Nancy Pelosi, the left dipped back into the well for a game plan that worked before in another high-profile case.
In 2012, Barack Obama publically berated the Supreme Court about possibly overturning Obamacare.
Obama howled that it was outrageous for the Supreme Court to overturn legislation passed by Congress and signed into law by the President.
The gambit worked.
Chief Justice John Roberts buckled under pressure and reversed his vote and sided with the liberals to uphold Obamacare.
So during a press conference in her home base of San Francisco, Pelosi loudly declared how the media would perceive Roberts if he went along with the Trump administration.
Pelosi implied liberal journalists and historians would ensure Roberts went down in history as a racist for supporting the citizenship question.
“This is about keeping — you know, make America, you know his hat — Make America White Again,” Pelosi said.
“They want to make sure that people, certain people, are counted. It’s really disgraceful and it’s not what our founders had in mind.”
“What they want to do is put a chilling effect so certain populations will not answer the form, that they won’t respond,” Pelosi continued.
“Don’t give them that victory. You must respond because otherwise, they win.”
Pelosi is betting that Roberts will fold under pressure and once again rule with the left.
And given Roberts history, many Trump supporters fear she may be correct.
