Democrats finally pulled the trigger.
It was the moment Speaker Pelosi insisted would never take place.
And Nancy Pelosi just made one jaw-dropping decision about impeachment.
Despite whatever Nancy Pelosi declared in public, rank-and-file Democrats were itching to impeach President Trump.
Texas Congressman Al Green began pushing for impeachment last year.
And in the wake of the fake news media lying about Donald Trump’s tweets about Congresswomen Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Ilhan Omar, Rashida Tlaib and Ayanna Pressley being “racist,” Green sensed opportunity.
Green introduced an impeachment resolution as a privileged resolution which guaranteed it would be voted on.
Green claimed that Trump’s tweets put the Democrat Congresswomen’s lives in danger and “have legitimatized and increased fear and hatred of new Americans and people of color,” Green roared. “Donald John Trump, by causing such harm to the society of the United States, is unfit to be president and warrants impeachment, trial and removal from office.”
Green explained that Democrats could no longer wait on impeachment because President Trump’s tweets and rhetoric were putting lives in danger.
“The Mueller testimony has nothing to do with his bigotry. Nothing. Zero. Nada,” Green said. “We cannot wait. As we wait, we risk having the blood of somebody on our hands — and it could be a member of Congress.”
This resolution put Nancy Pelosi in her bind.
Every day more Democrats come out in favor of either impeachment or opening an impeachment inquiry.
But she knows attempting to remove the President from office polls poorly and could cost Democrats not only the Presidential Election, but their House Majority as well in the 2020 election.
That’s why Pelosi risked the wrath of her grassroots base by coming out strongly against impeaching Trump over his tweets about “The Squad” ahead of the vote.
“We have six committees working on following the facts in terms of any abuse of power, obstruction of justice and the rest that the president may have engaged in,” Pelosi explained to reporters. “That is the serious path we’re on — not that Mr. Green is not serious, but we’ll deal with that on the floor.”
The motion ended up failing in an embarrassing fashion by a 332 to 95 vote.
Afterward, President Trump boasted on social media about his victory.
“The United States House of Representatives has just overwhelmingly voted to kill the Resolution on Impeachment, 332-95-1. This is perhaps the most ridiculous and time consuming project I have ever had to work on. Impeachment of your President, who has led the Greatest Economic BOOM in the history of our Country, the best job numbers, biggest tax reduction, rebuilt military and much more, is now OVER. This should never be allowed to happen to another President of the United States again!” President Trump tweeted.
This was not the last word on impeachment.
But in the first skirmish, Donald Trump emerged victorious.
