Americans had never seen anything like this.
What happened made many question the priorities of Congress.
And Nancy Pelosi disrespected the memory of 13 dead U.S. troops with this cold move.
Joe Biden still refuses to shoulder responsibility for the chaotic withdrawal from Afghanistan that resulted in the death of 13 U.S. troops in an ISIS suicide bombing.
During a proforma session of the House of Representatives, Florida Congressman Brian Mast – who lost both legs while serving as a U.S. Army bomb technician in Afghanistan back in 2010 – asked to be recognized to read the names of the 13 heroes that lost their lives during the withdrawal.
Instead of providing a few moments to honor Americans that made the ultimate sacrifice, Nancy Pelosi and the Democrats shut down the House of Representatives.
“We gaveled in, had a prayer, said the Pledge of Allegiance, took a moment of silence with pretty much all Republican veterans, then asked to be recognized to read names and bring up Afghanistan legislation,” Mast explained to The Floridian. “They did not acknowledge us, and just closed the House down.”
These are the 13 names Congressman Mast intended to read on the House floor:
Marine Corps Staff Sgt. Darin T. Hoover, 31, of Salt Lake City, Utah
Marine Corps Sgt. Johanny Rosario Pichardo, 25, of Lawrence, Massachusetts
Marine Corps Sgt. Nicole L. Gee, 23, of Sacramento, California
Marine Corps Cpl. Hunter Lopez, 22, of Indio, California
Marine Corps Cpl. Daegan W. Page, 23, of Omaha, Nebraska
Marine Corps Cpl. Humberto A. Sanchez, 22, of Logansport, Indiana
Marine Corps Lance Cpl. David L. Espinoza, 20, of Rio Bravo, Texas
Marine Corps Lance Cpl. Jared M. Schmitz, 20, of St. Charles, Missouri
Marine Corps Lance Cpl. Rylee J. McCollum, 20, of Jackson, Wyoming
Marine Corps Lance Cpl. Dylan R. Merola, 20, of Rancho Cucamonga, California
Marine Corps Lance Cpl. Kareem M. Nikoui, 20, of Norco, California
Navy Hospitalman Maxton W. Soviak, 22, of Berlin Heights, Ohio
Army Staff Sgt. Ryan C. Knauss, 23, of Corryton, Tennessee
Mast’s fellow Florida Republican members of Congress echoed Mast’s disgust.
“House Democrats just refused to recognize Republican veterans on the House Floor to read the names of our fallen service members in Afghanistan. That’s how far our nation has fallen,” Florida Congressman Greg Steube posted on social media.
“How badly do Nancy Pelosi and the House Democrats want to cover up this Afghanistan debacle? They just blocked Members of Congress from reading the names of the service members who sacrificed their lives in Afghanistan last week. Don’t you think our military deserves better?” Congressman Carlos Gimenez added.
Multiple family members of the fallen troops complained about Joe Biden’s conduct when the families met with Biden at the dignified transfer ceremony.
And now Biden’s allies on Capitol Hill also went out of their way to not show respect to their memories.
