House Speaker Nancy Pelosi found herself with her back against the wall.
Pelosi did not react well.
Nancy Pelosi revealed to Fox News that this is her biggest fear.
Michigan Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib sent Democrats ducking for cover with her call to eliminate the police after multiple nights of Black Lives Matter riots in Brooklyn Center, Minnesota following Daunte Wright’s death.
“It wasn’t an accident. Policing in our country is inherently & intentionally racist. Daunte Wright was met with aggression & violence. I am done with those who condone government funded murder. No more policing, incarceration, and militarization. It can’t be reformed,” Tlaib posted on social media.
Democrat Party leaders did not want to touch Tlaib’s new ideological North Star for the party base after the debacle of the 2020 elections.
Last November, Democrats lost 15 seats in the House when all the “experts”—Nancy Pelosi included—boasted that Democrats were on track to add as many as 15 to 20 new members to their majority.
Republicans successfully attacking Democrats as the party of defunding the police played a large role in that GOP victory.
Fox News asked Speaker Pelosi for comment on if Pelosi’s agreed with Tlaib’s call to eliminate the police.
Nancy Pelosi completely ducked the question because she was too afraid of offending her base, which grows more anti-police every day.
Instead, Speaker Pelosi reiterated her support for anti-police legislation that would force police officers to live in fear of being sued for performing routine duties to protect the public and apprehend dangerous criminals.
“As I painfully watched the trial of Derek Chauvin during Holy Week, I was grateful that the House had already passed the George Floyd Justice in Policing Act,” Pelosi said in a statement to Fox News. “This is all the more sad with the tragic killing of Daunte Wright this week. Our legislation provides a solution to systemic racism and does not paint all law enforcement with the same brush.”
Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer also ducked the question on if he opposed Rashida Tlaib’s demand to do away with police, but did make sure to express his agreement with the lie that police officers are racist head hunters.
“Look, we all know we have to root out systemic bias in law enforcement and we feel the best way to do that is the Justice in Policing Act,” Schumer stated.
Hillary Clinton’s failed running mate and current Virginia Senator Tim Kaine came the closest to rebuking Tlaib claiming Democrats should not disrespect police.
“We definitely need reforms in the space of qualified immunity,” Kaine told reporters. “But I, I am not in the camp that says, you know, we should disrespect police, we should reform police where police are necessary.”
Pelosi and other Democrats are terrified by calls to eliminate the police because if they endorse this radical plan, voters will punish them at the polls.
But if Pelosi and key Democrats outright reject this scheme, they could depress their base ahead of the 2022 midterm elections.
