Nancy Pelosi’s majority in Congress is on the verge of collapsing.
And with Democrats running away from this top election issue, the Red Wave could be huge.
Now, Pelosi has found herself in damage control mode after her party made one catastrophic mistake that could cost them everything.
The top two election issues most Americans are weighing in the 2022 midterms are obvious: the economy and immigration.
Not only is inflation running out of control and sapping the purchasing power and wealth of hundreds of millions of Americans, but the immigration crisis Joe Biden triggered on the southern border is breaking records by the day as tens of thousands of migrants spill across a completely undefended border.
And on both of these issues, Democrats are being forced to run away from a disaster of their own making.
But on the immigration front in particular, Pelosi’s own party is on the verge of committing a catastrophic mistake that could cost them dozens of seats in November.
Fox News reports, “Vulnerable Democrats running in tight midterm races will not say if they oppose amnesty for migrants who entered the U.S. illegally through the southern border. Last week, Fox News Digital asked the same set of vulnerable Democrats if they believed the border was secure, receiving only one response from one House member who lives in a border state.”
Not only are Democrats trying to ignore the border crisis, but they’re even trying to hide from their pro-amnesty views because they know publicly running on their immigration record would be a massive political blunder that could cost many of them their re-election bids.
But the problem Democrats have is that no matter how much they want to pretend that the November election is about anything but the top two issues most Americans care about, that doesn’t mean that they won’t be exempt from the consequences of ignoring these issues.
And the fact that the party is now abandoning their public support for open borders and amnesty and wants to act like immigration isn’t even on the ballot whatsoever suggests that Pelosi’s loyalists are heading for a crushing defeat.
“More than 200,000 migrants came through the border in August alone, and border officials encountered over 2 million people crossing into the U.S. this fiscal year. After the record number of crossings, none of the Democrats answered whether they believe millions of migrants in the U.S. should be granted amnesty,” adds Fox News.
The true scale of the immigration crisis Biden created is now painfully clear for millions of Americans living in Arizona or along the Rio Grande Valley in southern Texas, and with Republican governors like Ron DeSantis now shipping illegal immigrants to liberal bastions like Martha’s Vineyard, even the Left’s most elitist strongholds are now having to face the consequences of their open borders policies.
Pelosi knows this too, which is why she’s caught between a rock and a hard place.
Speaking out on immigration would only result in losing more voters from her own left-wing base, while ignoring the problem entirely will just continue to alienate swing voters in November, leaving the Democrat leader with few appealing options as the campaign season enters full-swing.
