After the shooting at a high school in Parkland, Florida left over a dozen students dead, President Trump created a commission to study how to prevent such a tragedy from ever happening again.
But Nancy Pelosi just took a shot at the commission’s recommendations right after they were released.
Now she’s regretting every word as the father of one slain Parkland student destroyed her in one tweet.
One of the deadliest school shootings in the history of the United States took place at the beginning of this year in Parkland, Florida.
The shooting on February 14, 2018 resulted in the deaths of 17 students and staff, as well as 17 more who were injured.
In the aftermath of the shooting, President Trump organized a school safety commission to study how to prevent future shootings from ever happening again.
Breitbart reports, “Trump’s School Safety Commission, headed by Education Secretary Betsy DeVos, submitted a report that presented numerous steps that could be taken to heighten school safety.”
“One of those was doing away with an Obama administration rule that let kids prone to crime and/or dangerous behavior slip through the cracks,” added Breitbart.
Nancy Pelosi wasted no time however in turning the commission’s findings into a political attack on the President.
The incoming House Speaker tweeted, “.@realDonaldTrump & @BetsyDeVosED have reached a new low. Their “report” on school safety puts special interests and the NRA ahead of protecting America’s school children. Students & parents have had #Enough. It’s time for the GOP to stop ignoring them.”
Pelosi went a step further, going so far as to accuse President Trump of trying to “roll back students’ civil rights and fill out classrooms with deadly firearms.”
She may soon regret turning the commission’s work into a political football however.
Within days of the tweet, Pelosi was destroyed by Andrew Pollack, father of one of the Parkland victims.
Pollack, a vocal supporter of President Trump and outspoken conservative, obliterated Pelosi for weaponizing the commission’s work.
“When 17 people get murdered in school, politicians have 2 choices: find out why and #fixit or weaponize it for their own agendas and wait to do it all over again next time. @realdonaldtrump took the high route. You dishonor Parkland’s legacy and endanger other kids for retweets,” Pollack tweeted.
Pollack has long been a critic of Democrat efforts to politicize the Parkland shooting.
However, Pelosi’s latest attack on the President’s efforts to protect schools, students, and teachers, crossed the line for Pollack.
Rather than trying to work with the President or the administration in solving the problem and ensuring that attacks like what happened in Parkland never happen again, Pelosi instead chose to use the commission’s work as an excuse to score more political hits on the President.
As the incoming Speaker of the House, Pelosi is still more worried about politics and optics than she is about solutions and results.
Pollack had none of it.
His tweet back at Pelosi exposed just how twisted her priorities are and how little she cares about anything beyond pandering to her base.
Do you think Pelosi politicized the Parkland shooting? Do you agree with Pollack?
