Democrats are wrapped up in another racially charged scandal.
Now Barack Obama is getting dragged into the mess.
And this picture from Barack Obama’s past is causing big trouble for the Democrats.
The latest flashpoint in the culture wars emerged when Nike scuttled plans to release their patriotic-themed sneakers for the Fourth of July which featured the Betsy Ross 13-star American flag.
Nike yanked the sneaker before it hit the market after former NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick cried that the flag was racist because it represented a time when slavery was legal in America.
Many Democrat Presidential candidates immediately rushed to embrace this lunacy and declared that the American flag was a symbol of racism and oppression.
“I think it’s really important to take into account the impression that kind of symbol would have for many of our fellow Americans,” Presidential hopeful Robert Francis “Beto” O’Rourke declared.
Former Housing and Urban Development Secretary and Presidential candidate Julian Castro also applauded the decision.
Castro told CBS News he was glad to see Nike pull the sneakers before they went on sale.
“There are a lot of things in our history that are still very painful,” Castro said, comparing the Betsy Ross flag to “the Confederate flag that still flies in some places and is used as a symbol.”
But the Democrats’ embrace of this latest social justice fad promptly backfired.
Conservatives pointed out that the Betsy Ross flag flew at Barack Obama’s second inauguration in 2012.

Millions of Americans wondered how the Betsy Ross flag could be racist when the nation’s first black President proudly flew it during his inauguration.
But the left-wing propaganda site snopes.com claimed it no longer matters that Obama flew it at his inauguration – the Betsy Ross flag now represents a symbol of racism and oppression because the social justice warriors say it does.
“This particular iteration of whataboutism was irrelevant, though, mostly because of the passage of time and intervening events. Although the Betsy Ross flag did adorn the stage during Obama’s second swearing-in ceremony, for some people the symbol has taken on new meanings in the era of his successor, President Donald Trump, during which far-right extremism has grown,” snopes.com wrote.
“During the Trump era, what were once relics of the United States’ fraught history with violent racism have been taken up as causes for some far-right extremists. As white supremacists began rallying around Confederate monuments slated for removal, some tried to attach the Betsy Ross flag to their cause as a symbol,” the alleged “fact checking” site added.
Democrats rushed to support Kaepernick when he began his anti-American, anti-flag protests in 2016.
Back then they claimed Kaepernick was only protesting racial injustice in police shootings.
But this latest controversy proved that was a lie.
What Kaepernick and the Democrats really hate is America and the American flag.
