Robert Mueller put all his cards on the table.
After a year of pretending like he wasn’t out to destroy Donald Trump, the truth is now plain for all to see.
And Mueller just pulled the dirtiest trick in the book to achieve his goal of impeaching President Trump.
Trump’s legal team has been working to negotiate an end to the Mueller probe.
Part of that strategy included an offer for the President to submit written answers to Mueller’s questions.
The special prosecutor in the Iran-Contra affair questioned President Reagan in this manner.
But this did not satisfy Mueller.
Mueller rejected the offer.
Politico reports:
“Special counsel Robert Mueller’s team has rejected the idea that President Donald Trump be allowed to answer questions in writing, according to a source familiar with the process, who also cautioned that it “doesn’t mean the last chapter’s been written on that.”
Mueller, who is overseeing the sprawling investigation into whether Trump campaign aides colluded with Russians to influence the 2016 election and into whether Trump obstructed justice, has been in talks with the president’s lawyers for months about the format of a potential interview.
In a conversation with POLITICO on Monday afternoon, Rudy Giuliani, who recently joined Trump’s outside group of lawyers, said Mueller’s team and Trump’s lawyers are still far apart on the negotiations for an interview. “We both have issues we want to resolve,” the former New York mayor said.
Among the Trump legal team’s demands: a chance to review the Justice Department internal records relating to the scope of Mueller’s investigation into possible collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia.
“We haven’t been given it. We’ve never seen it,” Giuliani said.”
Mueller shooting down this reasonable offer makes it clear his only interest is impeaching Trump.
Live questions give an opportunity for follow-ups and to catch Trump off guard.
If the President misstates who was in a meeting or what was said, Mueller can claim Trump committed a criminal offense by lying to investigators.
That will then become the grounds to impeach the President.
Trump needs to view Mueller as a hostile force.
The special counsel is a zealot who is committed to accomplishing his mission of ridding America of Donald Trump.
Should Trump agree to an interview, he should walk in knowing he is now behind enemy lines.
There is no more debate.
By rejecting Trump’s offer for written answers and insisting on a live interview, Mueller is an active participant in a silent coup against the President of the United States.
