UPDATE: Mueller announced former National Security Advisor Michael Flynn pled guilty about making false statements about his conversations with the Russian Ambassador during the transition.
This conversation took place after the election and Flynn’s plea agreement admitted he made false statements about activities that were not a crime.
When Flynn was talking to the Russian Ambassador, he was acting in his legitimate capacity as incoming national security advisor.
This has nothing to do with the campaign and does not provide any evidence of collusion, but Mueller and the anti-Trump media will try and spin it into a narrative they can use to drive Trump from office.
Robert Mueller is closing in on his plan to remove Trump from office.
He’s using the Russia collusion investigation as a front to dig up anything he can use to force Trump’s resignation or impeachment.
And he just uncovered the smoking gun that could take down the President.
Former National Security Advisor Michael Flynn is in the crosshairs.
He faces legal exposure for his consulting work with the Turkish government.
Even though that has nothing to do with what Mueller was supposedly investigating – Russia collusion – he’s using it as leverage to squeeze Flynn.
And it appears to be working.
News recently broke that Flynn’s defense team had terminated their information-sharing agreement with Trump’s lawyers.
Pundits speculated that meant Flynn was on the verge of a plea deal with the special counsel.
Those rumors only increased when word leaked that Mueller had canceled grand jury testimony for one of Flynn’s associates.
CNN reports:
“Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s team has postponed an anticipated grand jury testimony linked to his investigation into Michael Flynn amid growing indications of possible plea deal discussions.
Additional witnesses were expected to be questioned soon including a public relations consultant hired by Flynn’s lobbying firm who was given an early December date deadline to appear before the grand jury, according to a person at the company.
Ahead of the delay, the impression was that the testimony needed to happen soon, the source said.
“Time seems to be of the essence,” said the source at Sphere Consulting, the PR firm where the consultant worked.”
Mueller also hauled in Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner for a 90-minute meeting about Flynn.
CNN also reports:
“Jared Kushner met earlier this month with Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s team as part of the investigation into Russia’s meddling in the election, according to two people familiar with the meeting.
Mueller’s team specifically asked Kushner about former national security advisor Michael Flynn, who is under investigation by the special counsel, two sources said. Flynn was the dominant topic of the conversation, one of the sources said.
“Mr. Kushner has voluntarily cooperated with all relevant inquiries and will continue to do so,” Abbe Lowell, Kushner’s lawyer, told CNN.
The conversation lasted less than 90 minutes, one person familiar with the meeting said, adding that Mueller’s team asked Kushner to clear up some questions he was asked by lawmakers and details that emerged through media reports. One source said the nature of this conversation was principally to make sure Kushner doesn’t have information that exonerates Flynn.”
Mueller appears to be honing in on Flynn.
But observers do not believe Flynn will get a favorable plea deal unless he turns on Donald Trump.
However, through three Congressional investigations, one FBI probe, and now Robert Mueller, no evidence of collusion with Russia exists.
Mueller squeezing Flynn could be the final, desperate hope to dig-up something, anything, the swamp can use to force Trump from office.
