Democrats got some bad news.
Another fight the left picked with Florida Governor Ron DeSantis blew up in their faces.
And Ron DeSantis drove the final nail in the Democrats’ coffin in 2022 with this announcement.
Democrats enlisted the corporate media and woke corporations like Disney to smear a parental rights education bill that prevented teachers from indoctrinating young school children in kindergarten through third grade with transgender ideology and the homosexual agenda.
The corporate media and Democrats smeared the legislation as the “Don’t Say Gay” bill and falsely claimed Florida Republicans wrote the bill to intimidate homosexuals and transgenders.
Governor DeSantis showed why he is a rising star in Republican politics and refused to cower in the face of media lies.
Instead, DeSantis punched back twice as hard and defended the bill against fake news media and Democrats’ lies.
“We want our kids to be kids,” DeSantis told a crowd of supporters.
DeSantis mocked the idea that a bunch of woke corporations would boycott the state of Florida over banning the idea of teachers pressuring five-year-olds to think they can switch their gender on a whim.
“People actually said that if you don’t have classroom instruction on sexual matters in grades K-3, that somehow businesses don’t want to be in Florida? I think people need to get out of their bubble and actually talk to parents,” DeSantis declared.
Governor DeSantis explained that as a parent of young children he and his wife welcomed the fact that sexually inappropriate material would stay out of classrooms.
“As a parent of three kids that are age five and under, thank you for letting me and my wife send our kids to kindergarten without them being sexualized,” DeSantis added.
DeSantis declared 2022 – which saw Florida reject mask and vaccine mandates in schools – the “year of the parent.”
“I think if you look at what’s been done, both in terms of funding and policy, this really was the year of the parent in the state of Florida,” DeSantis concluded.
Parents’ rights are a potent line of attack for Republicans.
Glenn Youngkin won the Virginia gubernatorial election last November on the strength of his message that parents deserved to know what their children were learning and to have a say.
Youngkin promised to ban critical race theory and end the school mask mandate.
Those proved to be winning messages as Youngkin was the first Republican to capture the Virginia governor’s mansion since 2009.
Similarly, DeSantis banning inappropriate sexual material from classrooms enjoys a solid majority of support in Florida.
POLITICO reports:
The poll asked respondents about Florida’s Parental Rights in Education bill, dubbed the “Don’t Say Gay” bill by opponents. The measure prohibits teachers from leading classroom discussions on sexual orientation and gender identity in kindergarten through third grade and seeks to ban such lessons for other grades unless they are “age-appropriate or developmentally appropriate.”
A slim majority of U.S. voters who were polled — 51 percent — support “banning the teaching of sexual orientation and gender identity from kindergarten through third grade” while 35 percent are opposed, according to the poll results.
The poll also found that 52 percent support limiting lessons on sexual orientation and gender identity after third grade to “age appropriate” discussions.
The pandemic turned education into a wedge issue against Democrats.
School closures allowed parents to see the out-of-control woke race and gender ideology that infect their children’s lessons.
Parents also saw how Democrat mayors and governors slammed the doors to schools and kept them closed on orders from the teachers’ unions.
When schools finally opened, Democrats demanded children obey harmful and abusive mask mandates.
Rally parents fed up with Democrats caving in to the woke mob and teachers’ union proved to be a politically successful path for Republicans in 2021.
And Ron DeSantis is showing Republicans that will also be the case in 2022.
