Fed up with high taxes, high crime, and a worsening quality of life, people are leaving New York in droves.
And after the state’s liberal governor insulted conservatives, the flight from New York turned into a mass exodus.
Now, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis just dealt New York’s governor a humiliation of a lifetime after one report showed New Yorkers are fleeing to Florida in record numbers.
After decades of mismanagement, New Yorkers have had enough with their home state and are choosing to flee in droves.
That’s what the latest data points to, with thousands of New Yorkers handing in their licenses and moving to more friendly states for business owners and taxpayers, like Florida.
Just The News reports, “A record number of New Yorkers are switching their driver’s licenses to Florida, according to a New York Post analysis of Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles data.
“The analysis comes at a time when New York Gov. Kathy Hochul has urged New York Republicans to leave and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has welcomed new residents to ‘the free state of Florida.’”
Not only have New Yorkers chosen to follow her advice, but Florida’s own governor is welcoming the conservative refugees with open arms.
And while Hochul and her fellow Democrats continue to be more interested in insulting Republicans rather than solving the state’s growing problems, thousands of people across the state are beginning to realize that New York isn’t the liberal paradise Hochul promised.
“In August, 5,838 New Yorkers switched their driver’s licenses to Florida, the highest recorded number for a single month in history, the report found. From Jan. 1 to Sept. 20, 41,885 New Yorkers have turned in their licenses after officially leaving the state,” adds Just The News.
The evidence is clear that New York is bleeding residents at breakneck speed thanks to gross mismanagement from Democrats like Hochul.
And Ron DeSantis has taken notice.
Just The News reports, “Earlier this year, the DeSantis campaign launched ‘mugs for New Yorkers’ who still live in New York. The mugs say, ‘I’m a New Yorker but I wish my governor was Ron DeSantis.’”
The fact that DeSantis has been able to raise money off of the thousands of New Yorkers fleeing Hochul’s policies is stunning.
What’s more, Hochul and her allies seem to be openly encouraging more conservatives in New York to leave the state for Florida.
“Get out of town. Get out of town. Because you don’t represent our values,” Hochul said to New York Republicans at a campaign event in August where she openly called on the state’s conservatives to move to Florida. “You are not New Yorkers.”
Rather than try to resolve the tax and crime burdens that are driving people out of the state and into more freedom-oriented states like Florida, Hochul and her allies have chosen to attack DeSantis and insult millions of conservatives in their own state.
As a result, it should come as no surprise that New York lost over 300,000 residents in just the last year alone.
