Florida Governor Ron DeSantis is one Republican that continues to worry Democrats.
Governor DeSantis once again took the fight to the left.
And now Ron DeSantis ordered an investigation that caused this big problem for Joe Biden.
The Wall Street Journal dropped a bombshell report that Facebook “whitelisted” prominent users – including some politicians – to exempt them from the platform’s content and moderation policies.
Facebook allows certain journalists, politicians and celebrities to post content that violates Facebook’s rules and also are exempt from Facebook’s enforcement policies about taking down posts and suspending accounts.
Big Tech’s liberal bias is a major issue roiling America.
Normally the focus rests on social media companies censoring conservative content.
In this case, the claim is that Facebook is actually promoting content that helps the Democrat Party and exempting one class of users from the rules used to silence conservatives.
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis directed Florida Secretary of State Laurel Lee to investigate Facebook’s whitelisting policy to see if it violated Florida law in terms of influencing elections.
“It’s no secret that Big Tech censors have long enforced their own rules inconsistently,” Governor DeSantis declared. “If this new report is true, Facebook has violated Florida law to put its thumb on the scale of numerous state and local races.”
Governor DeSantis continued on explaining that Facebook subverts American democracy by “manipulating elections” by favoring one candidate over another.
“That is why I am directing Secretary Lee to use all legal means to uncover violations of Florida’s election laws. The thought of Facebook clandestinely manipulating elections is an affront to the basic principles of our republic. We the people have the right to choose our representatives, whether or not Silicon Valley approves,” Governor DeSantis added.
Big Tech’s election interference became a major issue after Twitter locked the New York Post’s account due to a report about the content of Hunter Biden’s laptop showing Joe Biden’s potential involvement in pay-to-play schemes involving Hunter Biden’s foreign business dealings.
Twitter blocked users from tweeting the link to the story.
Facebook announced the platform would suppress the story pending a “fact check” that never came.
Joe Biden won the election by 44,000 votes across Arizona, Georgia and Wisconsin.
Many Trump supporters believe Facebook and Twitter rigged the election against Trump by censoring a negative story about Joe Biden’s alleged corruption that could have swung the election to Trump.
Polls show Ron DeSantis leading the field for the GOP 2024 presidential nomination if Donald Trump doesn’t run for president.
The main reason driving Republicans to support Governor DeSantis is the party’s rank and file sees DeSantis fighting back against the left’s narrative on COVID and rejecting Dr. Fauci’s demands for lockdowns, mask mandates and vaccine passports.
Governor DeSantis is now fighting with another of the left’s sacred cows by taking on Big Tech.
And this investigation could have 2024 implications.
