The Democrats were once again rocked by allegations of sexual misconduct.
This time a high-profile Democrat was sucked into the crisis.
And this leading Democrat’s career is on the rocks because of one disgusting sex scandal.
Sheila Jackson Lee is the chair of the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation.
Jackson Lee is also a high-profile critic of the President.
But now she is in the soup.
Jackson Lee has resigned from her position as chair of the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation because her name surfaced in a bombshell lawsuit.
A young woman who used to work for the Congressional Black Caucus claims Jackson Lee fired her after the woman threatened to pursue legal action for an alleged sexual assault.
The woman claimed that when she was an intern with the Congressional Black Caucus, the intern coordinator raped her.
She reported the incident to the police but did not pursue legal action at the time.
In March 2016, when she worked in Jackson Lee’s Congressional office, the woman informed Jackson Lee’s chief of staff that she intended to pursue legal action against her alleged attacker and wanted a meeting with the Congresswoman to discuss the matter.
Jackson Lee never scheduled a meeting with the woman and the woman was fired weeks later.
Jackson Lee’s office released a statement to the news media denying that any retaliation was taken against this alleged rape victim.
“Although the Congresswoman is eager to respond substantively, she will do so only at the appropriate time, as the court docket dictates. The Congresswoman is confident that, once all of the facts come to light, her Office will be exonerated of any retaliatory or otherwise improper conduct and this matter will be put to rest,” the statement read.
“While we still deny the allegations, we are especially concerned about Ms. Doe and only want the best for her and the many, many young people that the Congressional office has supported, encouraged, and provided opportunities for over 20 years.”
Conservatives could not help but notice the double standard at work in this story.
Accusations that a high-profile Democrat member of Congress retaliated against an alleged rape victim barely made a ripple on the national landscape.
Of course, had Jackson Lee been a conservative Trump supporter or a high-profile member of the House Freedom Caucus who was a fierce critic of Barack Obama, this scandal would have been covered as part of the Republican Party’s systemic problem with women.
This would be a national scandal with every Republican in Washington being forced to weigh-in, along with a barrage of media coverage until the Republican in question stepped down.
But this is how the so-called “mainstream” media operates.
They’ll give a Democrat Party scandal cursory coverage so they can’t be accused of outright ignoring a story—then immediately sweep it under the rug like it never happened.
This partisan coverage allows the American people to move onto the next news cycle without the Democrats absorbing any political pain.
