Democrats’ hypocrisy on a number of issues is infuriating.
They falsely accuse conservatives and Republicans of things that they themselves are actually doing, particularly in the area of sexual misconduct.
Now one awful sex scandal just became Nancy Pelosi’s worst nightmare.
In 2016, Democrats tried to derail Donald Trump’s presidential campaign with the Access Hollywood tape where Trump engaged in locker room talk.
Hillary Clinton, of all people, tried to conflate hypothetical discussions of consensual acts with sexual assault.
Meanwhile, Hillary and the Democrats fiercely defended Bill Clinton despite credible accusations of forcible rape, and lying under oath about proven sexual misconduct.
Some Democrats even suggested that Trump should be impeached for the tape.
But an awful sex scandal involving a rising congressional Democrat has Nancy Pelosi and other liberals in a bind.
California freshman congresswoman Katie Hill, who received national media attention during her 2018 campaign and a personal endorsement from Barack Obama, recently got embroiled in an ugly sex scandal.
Hill, who is bisexual, had her previous relationship with a female staffer exposed.
Hill and her husband, who are in the midst of divorce proceedings, both were engaged in a sexual relationship with the female staffer.
Hill was also accused of having an affair with a man, her legislative director.
Hill had no choice but to admit to the affair with the female staffer because photos of their trysts leaked.
However, Hill denied the affair with her legislative director.
But text messages and testimony from other staffers proved that Hill was lying.
Hill used the predictable boogeyman of “right-wing media” as the cause for her scandal, falling just shy of Hillary Clinton’s complaints of a “vast right-wing conspiracy” to take down her philandering husband.
Hill also used another common liberal tactic of positioning herself as a victim of abuse and harassment, but the evidence against her was insurmountable.
Pelosi had no choice but to ask for her resignation.
However, Hill first put out the narrative that she resigned on her own accord, releasing a video blaming her “abusive husband” and “political operatives.”
But her empty accusations fell on deaf ears.
One poll showed that support in her district fell from 80% to a dismal 16% after news of the scandal broke.
At first, there was a blackout of the story among the so-called mainstream media.
They were not eager to report on a scandal on their own side of the aisle.
But as more evidence emerged, the story became radioactive and they reluctantly reported on it.
Making the story even more ironic, Hill had served on the House Ethics Committee, entrusted with overseeing matters precisely like this.
In light of the #MeToo movement, which has ensnared several high-profile liberals, members of Congress engaging in sexual relationships with their staffers is verboten.
Hill’s tawdry sex scandal comes at the worst possible time for Pelosi, who’s lining up for a formal impeachment vote against Trump.
For the Democrats, the coup must go on.
