The left has made it clear their top priority is censoring conservative speech.
But Democrats got some surprising bad news.
And that’s because a bombshell revelation shut down the Democrats’ attempts to cancel Fox News.
Democrats on the House Committee on Energy and Commerce dragged in top executives from cable providers and the major streaming companies to badger them about so-called “misinformation” on cable news.
But the real purpose of the hearing—as described in a letter by two California Democrats on the committee—was to use the threat of a congressional subpoena to intimidate them into either dropping Fox News, Newsmax and One America News Network or to drop them down in the listings so they collect lower carriage fees so as to starve them out of business financially.
Republican Minority Whip Steve Scalise destroyed this anti-American argument by reminding Democrats that in 2017 a former Bernie Sanders campaign volunteer who was brainwashed into thinking Republicans were Russian traitors by liberal media outlets nearly killed him when the deranged Sanders supporters tried to assassinate Republicans at a baseball practice.
“I want to take you back to June 14th 2017, a day when a gunman walked onto a baseball field and shot at a dozen members of Congress including myself,” Scalise began.
Scalise cited an FBI report about the gunman’s motives and noted how the Bureau found rhetoric from liberal media outlets and politicians radicalized him and incited violence.
“The FBI did a report. The gunman was motivated by hyper-charged rhetoric that he was hearing from the left. From high, prominent elected officials as well as media personalities,” Scalise added.
“There is a report that the FBI did where they included some of the writings of the gunman where he talked specifically about the people who motivated him and inspired him to commit this shooting, which would have been very deadly if he was successful without the bravery and heroism of the Capitol Police,” Scalise continued.
Scalise said even though a liberal incited by conspiracy theories spouted by the biggest names on the left tried to kill him, he would not advocate for government censorship of the news.
“I say this to let you know that I don’t blame those other people, I blame the shooter. The shooter is the one who should be held accountable, and I’ve been very clear about that, but it’s an example that we all need to be aware of our rhetoric, we can all be doing a better job of toning down the rhetoric, but we also need to call it out where we see it, not just on the other side of the aisle but on both sides,” Scalise concluded.
