But all hell could break loose in that race thanks to the biggest movie star in the world.
And this Hollywood A-lister may challenge Joe Biden for president in 2024.
Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is the number one box office draw in Hollywood.
Johnson’s fronted blockbusters such as “Jumanji,” “The Fast and the Furious,” and “The Fast and the Furious” spinoff “Hobbs and Shaw.”
In an interview with NBC’s Willie Geist, Johnson expressed an interest in running for president, saying his goal was to “unite the country,” and he believed he had something to offer in that regard.
“I have a goal, and an interest and an ambition to unite our country,” Johnson said in the interview with Geist. “If this is what the people want, then I will do that.”
Johnson even alluded to the catchphrase he made famous as one of the top drawing WWE superstars of all time when he would refer to himself as the “People’s Champion.”
“If the time comes where there is a good amount of people who want to see that happen, then I’m going to consider it,” Johnson added.
Joe Biden and Kamala Harris may be providing the opening for Johnson to run for president on his message of uniting the country.
Biden campaigned for president on his promise to heal the nation.
But the early return on the administration shows Biden’s failed.
Biden’s governed by executive orders issuing 60 in his first 100 days and passing his signature blue state bailout bill with just Democrat Party votes.
The polling data reveals the depth of Biden’s failure with more than eight in ten Americans believing the country was divided.
“Eighty-two percent of respondents to the NBC poll said they thought the country was more divided than it was united, roughly on par with recent years,” The New York Times reports.
Polling data also shows the public may be open to a presidential candidacy by Johnson.
Last month, Johnson shared the results of a poll on social media showing 46 percent of the public would support a presidential campaign by Johnson.
“I don’t think our Founding Fathers EVER envisioned a six-four, bald, tattooed, half-Black, half-Samoan, tequila drinking, pick-up truck driving, fanny pack wearing guy joining their club – but if it ever happens it’d be my honor to serve you, the people,” Johnson wrote on Instagram.
Johnson may be using his Hollywood career to plant the seeds for a presidential run.
NBC just picked up Johnson’s show “Young Rock,” which stars Rock as a version of himself running for president in 2032 looking back at the events of his upbringing that forged his identity.
If the polls continue to show Americans believe the nation is hopelessly divided, Johnson could enter the presidential race as a popular, celebrity candidate that can bridge the partisan divide.
Johnson’s past support for Biden and Harris as well as his previous identity as a Republican could make “The Rock” a formidable challenge to Harris if Joe Biden steps aside.
