Donald Trump could not believe it.
President Trump was blindsided and trying to figure out where everything went wrong.
And that’s because one Republican senator just sold out Trump to hand Chuck Schumer this big win.
Chuck Schumer, Nancy Pelosi and Mitch McConnell plotted behind closed doors to nail down a 2.3 trillion-dollar boondoggle disguised as coronavirus relief.
The bill included a $600 check to American taxpayers.
But the legislation also included $1,800 checks to the family members of illegal aliens.
Florida Republican Senator Marco Rubio spearheaded creating this magnet to attract illegal aliens.
CBS reported:
Under the agreement, U.S. citizens and green card holders will be able to receive $600 in direct aid, even if they filed a joint tax return with an undocumented spouse, as well as additional $600 checks per dependent child, according to congressional aides and the text of the legislation.
The new compromise would also retroactively make mixed-status families eligible for the $1,200 per household and $500 per child checks allocated by the CARES Act, which was enacted in late March.
Most of the times when politicians sneak controversial provisions into legislation, they try to do it in the dead of night or on the Friday before a holiday weekend so no one notices.
Not Marco Rubio.
Rubio boasted about providing a handout to the family members of illegal aliens.
“No American should have been blocked from receiving federal assistance during a global pandemic because of who they married,” Rubio inexplicably claimed. “I thank Senator Tillis and my other Senate colleagues for their leadership in getting this across the finish line.”
The swamp thought that by passing the bill with 90 votes in the Senate and about 350 in the House of Representatives, those overwhelming majorities would force President Trump to swallow this big government bailout for politicians’ pet projects.
Instead, President Trump objected and called out pro-open borders politicians like Rubio for shafting the American people in this “ridiculous” spending bill.
“The bill also allows stimulus checks for the family members of illegal aliens, allowing them to get up to $1,800 each. This is far more than the Americans are given,” President Trump declared.
Marco Rubio wants to run for President in 2024 on a donor class friendly version of Donald Trump’s “Make America Great Again” agenda.
But Rubio cannot claim to be a champion for the forgotten man and woman that Donald Trump attracted to the Republican Party while promoting stimulus handouts to the family members of illegal aliens.
In 2016, Rubio’s presidential campaign never got off the ground because of his support for the Gang of 8 amnesty bill.
Rubio’s 2024 campaign looks to be on a similar “failure to launch” trajectory.
