The investigation into the Trump campaign and Russia continues to barrel on.
Democrats are counting on it as the silver bullet to bring down the Trump Presidency.
But a key Democratic senator just let the truth slip out.
Mark Warner is the top Democrat on the Senate Intelligence Committee.
They have been investigating possible collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia.
These Senators have access to all the raw intelligence and evidence.
And in one interview, Warner let the real truth out – that this scandal is a big, fat nothing.
He admitted on CNN that there is no smoking gun.
The Hill reports:
“Sen. Mark Warner (D-Va.) on Sunday said the Senate Intelligence Committee has yet to find a smoking gun as it investigates Russia’s meddling in the United States election.
“There is a lot of smoke. We have no smoking gun at this point, but there is a lot of smoke,” Warner told CNN’s “State of the Union.”
Warner, who is the vice chairman of the committee, said the probe will “sort through” whether or not the Russians were guided in their attempts to interfere in the election.”
Trump has repeatedly said the investigation is “fake news”, a “witch hunt”, and a hoax.

Democrats used this fake scandal to successfully pressure the Justice Department to appoint a special prosecutor.
Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein selected former FBI Director Robert Mueller to be special counsel on the Russia investigation.
But now the inquiry is rapidly expanding into a catch-all investigation that is digging into matters unrelated to collusion between Trump and Russia.
Mueller is examining the circumstances surrounding former FBI Director Jim Comey’s firing, as well as the business dealings of former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort and former National Security advisor Michael Flynn.
The probe now has the possibility of creating process crimes or seeing Trump associates charged with crimes that have nothing to do with the underlying accusation.
And still no evidence of collusion exists.
Every official who has examined the intelligence – and this includes top Democratic senators and former Obama intelligence community officials – admits there is no proof of collusion.
This was a fake scandal dredged up by the media and Democrats to hamper the Trump administration through innuendo and appearance of suspicion.
Now they have a special counsel investigation and they will continue to generate negative headlines that will drag on for months – maybe even years.
