It’s one scandal after another for the Biden administration.
Joe Biden just completed the most disastrous first year of any president many Americans can remember.
And now Trey Gowdy obliterated Joe Biden with a disturbing truth that Democrats want to hide.
Trey Gowdy highlighted how much politics in Washington changed by telling viewers that in 1991 the Senate confirmed William Barr to be attorney general with a unanimous vote.
But when Donald Trump nominated Barr in 2019 to succeed Jeff Sessions, 45 Democrats voted against his confirmation.
Gowdy suggested this showed how politicized even the Justice Department became over the last three decades.
“Did the office change? Were the qualities we want in an attorney general different in 1991? Did the Senate and confirmation process change? Of course, it has, not for the better. But what about us? Did we change? Did we begin to want or expect something different from an attorney general? What are the ideal qualities for the nation’s top prosecutor, and who is best to identify that person? Does the current process attract, and identify and select the most capable people?” Gowdy added.
Gowdy reasoned that presidents don’t need Cabinet officials that openly work against their agenda, but that the Justice Department should operate free from partisan politics and not act like controversial former Obama Attorney General Eric Holder described as a “wingman.”
“Of course, we don’t want the attorney general and the president constantly bickering, presidents are entitled to a Cabinet dedicated to implementing the things he or she ran for office on. But there has to be independence. The justice system is not a tool. Prosecutions should not be a sword for enemies or a shield for friends, the job of the attorney general is to foster justice and fairness and a justice system worthy of respect. Not initiate investigations based on who we like and who we don’t…. Attorney general should not be a wingman or a tool or a weapon or a sycophant. Justice is not a favor for friends or retribution for opponents. Remember, Lady Justice is blindfolded for a reason. And that is who the real judge ought to be, she and she alone,” Gowdy concluded.
That’s not the case with Joe Biden’s highly political Attorney General Merrick Garland.
Garland’s Justice Department threw a number of nonviolent January 6 defendants in solitary confinement and inhumane conditions for over a year because they protested Joe Biden’s election at the Capitol.
The Justice Department colluded with a far-left school board association to smear parents that protested mask mandates and critical race theory as domestic terrorists.
And Garland caved to pressure from the media and elected Democrats to charge members of the Oath Keepers with “seditious conspiracy” for their roles in January 6.
Under Joe Biden and Merrick Garland, the Justice Department is now an extension of the Democrat Party.
And that worries many Americans concerned about the commitment to the rule of law.
