Donald Trump’s said he is waiting for the outcome of the 2022 midterm election to decide if he will run for president again in 2024.
Based on reports on how Democrats plan to deploy Kamala Harris, it looks like a given that Trump will enter the race.
In the 2020 presidential campaign and in office as vice president, Harris proved herself to be one of the most inept politicians in America.
Harris’ campaign for president did not even make it out of 2019 and Harris dropped out of the race with low single-digit support in the polls and virtually nonexistent fundraising.
But Harris’ time as vice president did not improve her political standing at all.
Thanks to Harris’ failure as border czar to bring down the illegal immigration,polling data shows Harris is the least popular vice president in the last 50 years.
That’s why few can understand the reports leaking out that the Democrats plan to make heavy use of Kamala Harris in the midterm election campaign.
“She is very popular with the base. She is particularly strong with women and with young people. Turn out for young people is going to be critical for the midterms and it is uncertain,” Democrat pollster Celinda Lake told The Hill. “Between turnout and swing independent women, I would think she would be quite aggressive because of her own appeal and popularity.”
Democrats are defending the narrowest majorities in generations and Democrats plan to send the deeply unpopular Harris to key races where she has previous relationships with the candidates.
“Ultimately, she’ll want to go where she can be most helpful,” one Harris ally told The Hill. “She definitely wants to do whatever she can to keep Democrats in the Senate majority. Relationships are important to her. So if she is asked to do something by a candidate she knows well or who has been helpful to her, she will make that a priority.”
Democrats put on a brave front about making use of Harris in the midterm elections.
“Vice President Harris is a trailblazer and having her alongside President Biden at the top of the ticket in 2020 was critical to flipping the White House and Senate and maintaining control of the House,” DNC spokeswoman Adonna Biel said in a statement. “She is an invaluable asset to the DNC, and as we head into 2022, Vice President Harris will play a key role as the DNC continues to fight to expand our majority and defeat the disastrous Trumpian agenda Republicans are pushing.”
Harris is not an inspiring campaigner, and she lacks a natural base of support that she can mobilize.
If Democrats plan for Harris to play a major role in the 2022 midterm elections Democrats could be setting themselves up for failure.
