Despite being two years away, the 2020 election is heating up.
It’s the Democrats last chance to take down President Trump.
And a new development might cause Trump to lose.
Currently, the Democrat Party is in bad shape.
Nancy Pelosi is going to be the next Speaker of the House and potential leader of the party.
But she is not a popular name, especially in many swing-states Democrats will be relying on in 2020.
And while a host of Democrats have lined up for the honor of going head to head against Trump, there is no frontrunner.
In fact, in a recent Democrat polling of potential candidates, the winning answer was “none of the above.”
One candidate who didn’t poll highly was Senator Elizabeth Warren.
Although she’s long been a potential candidate, she hasn’t made any solid steps towards a real run up until now.
A new report from Politico says a source claims that Warren aides have been quietly shopping for a campaign headquarters in the Boston area.
And considering her campaign has more than $12 million in the bank, with over $3 million invested in digital infrastructure and advertising, there’s nothing stopping her to do so.
“It looks like she has her national apparatus in place and all she has to do is pull the trigger,” Jim Demers, a Democrat political activist who worked for both the Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton campaigns, told Politico.
Should she begin her official Presidential campaign, there’s already a solid base of support ready to back her.
CNN listed Warren as their #1 position in “power-ranking” for the Democrat nomination.
That means they believe she is the most likely candidate to win the nomination.
And their reasoning for that is very simple: She’s a woman.
The 2020 election will be the deciding moment for Democrats about how far their embrace of identity politics will go.
In 2016, the biggest draw to Hillary Clinton was that she was a woman.
In 2008, many saw the biggest draw to Barack Obama was his race.
So Democrats are hoping that 2020 will be the year a woman is finally put in the White House.
Four of the ten Democrats listed in the 2020 power-rankings are Democrat women.
Considering that only twenty percent of those in Congress are women, that chances are pretty high.
And it doesn’t matter who they are or what their qualifications are—meeting all the right race and gender quotas is all that counts.
