Jeff Sessions’ tenure as Attorney General was marred by his feud with Donald Trump.
Sessions recused himself from the Russia investigation which led to Robert Mueller’s appointment as special counsel.
And now Donald Trump was speechless when he saw how Jeff Sessions could betray him.
The mess Jeff Sessions made as Attorney General with his recusal has finally come full circle.
Democrats seized on Robert Mueller’s controversial obstruction of justice report to launch their own investigation that many pundits believe will end with Donald Trump’s impeachment.
The House Judiciary Committee continued this Presidential harassment by voting to authorize subpoenas to 12 current and former Trump administration officials who had already testified before Robert Mueller’s investigators.
One of those individuals was former Attorney General Jeff Sessions.
That announcement raised the eyebrows of Trump supporters.
The President’s backers wondered if Sessions would use this opportunity to strike back at President Trump.
Georgia Republican Doug Collins – who serves as the ranking member of the Judiciary Committee – ripped the Committee Chair Jerry Nadler’s sneak attack.
Collins accused the Democrats of seeking a do-over of the Mueller investigation.
“Mr. Mueller’s team issued more than 2,800 subpoenas before concluding that no Americans conspired with Russia,” Collins’ statement read.
“Even if Chairman Nadler still believes subpoenas are conversation starters, it’s hard to imagine this handful of subpoenas will do anything but reinforce the principal conclusions we’ve been able to read about for months.”
Many Americans echoed Collins’ concerns with the Democrats re-interviewing individuals who already spoke with Robert Mueller and his investigators.
What else could they hope to learn?
The answer is nothing.
But Democrats know so few Americans actually read the Mueller report.
That’s because they judged it to be a waste of time.
Mueller never charged any American for conspiring with the Russians during the 2016 election.
And the special counsel failed to make a determination on whether President Trump obstructed justice.
Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein tasked Mueller with investigating alleged Russian interference in the 2016 election and if any Americans had participated in that scheme.
Mueller took that narrow mandate and turned it into an obstruction of justice investigation.
But on both fronts, the special counsel came up empty.
The American people gleaned that information from the news headlines and didn’t feel it was worth their time to read a 400-page report that described Mueller coming up empty-handed.
Democrats hope to change the media narrative from “Mueller failed to charge anyone with conspiracy or obstruction of justice” to “look at all this evidence of corruption Mueller turned up” by staging public hearings.
And they expect Sessions to be their star witness.
Democrats believe Sessions was privy to Donald Trump’s most egregious acts of obstruction of justice and is eager to spill his guts.
But would Sessions really sell out the President on national TV?
