Russian President Vladimir Putin’s driven the world to the brink of nuclear war.
The Russian madman’s invasion of Ukraine set off a conflict that could spiral out of control.
Vladimir Putin issued one ultimatum that had all hell breaking loose.
Putin’s already threatened nuclear strikes against any country that intervenes in his horrific invasion of Ukraine.
American intelligence officials judge that threat to be credible.
Now Putin turned his ire on his own people.
Putin expected a quick and decisive victory over Ukraine.
When Putin ordered the invasion, Putin and Russian military commanders expected a swift campaign to capture the capital city of Kyiv and running out the Zelensky government in no more than three days.
But thanks to a combination of poor Russian military planning and readiness as well as much stronger resistance from the Ukrainians, the Russian army is bleeding out in a stalled invasion.
The war is increasingly unpopular in Russia as thousands took to the streets in protest.
But that only infuriated Putin who began imposing Stalinist-like crackdowns on independent media and protests making it illegal to criticize the government.
In a deranged speech to his country, Putin claimed anti-war Russians were “national traitors” working to advance the goals of the West to subvert Russia from within.
“The West will try to rely on the so-called fifth column, on national traitors, on those who earn money here with us but live there. And I mean ‘live there’ not even in the geographical sense of the word, but according to their thoughts, their slavish consciousness,” Putin ranted.
Putin then declared anyone opposed to his war effort not Russian.
“Such people who by their very nature, are mentally located there, and not here, are not with our people, not with Russia,” Putin added.
But the most frightening aspect of this speech came when Putin appeared to call for genocide against Russians opposed to the war declaring they were “scum” and would be “spit out on the pavement.”
“But any people, and even more so the Russian people, will always be able to distinguish true patriots from scum and traitors, and simply spit them out like a gnat that accidentally flew into their mouths, spit them out on the pavement,” Putin declared.
During Joseph Stalin’s evil rule the government sent anyone suspected of being an enemy of the state to the gulag and often just put a bullet in their heads.
To Stalin, enemy of the state meant as little as disagreeing on Stalin’s choice of socks on any given day.
With Putin’s war effort in Ukraine collapsing into stalemate or defeat, Putin is pulling Russia back to Stalin era paranoia and horrors.
Between 1932 and 1933 Stalin announced his intention to “liquidate” Ukrainian “peasants.”
Stalin followed through by murdering over three million Ukrainians through a deliberate starvation.
Stalin also killed several million Russians in his gulags between 1933 and 1945.
And now Vladimir Putin is threatening to return Russia to these murderous policies.
