There is a secret behind the investigation into Trump’s ties to Russia.
It’s more damaging than anyone had ever admitted.
And a top Trump aide just came clean about what’s going on.
The Russia conspiracy was cooked up after the election by the Clinton campaign to distract from their awful campaign and candidate.
The media picked it up and Deep State leakers fueled the story with well-timed illegal disclosures of classified information.
None of the leaks or press stories proved any wrong doing, but they allowed anti-Trump members of the media to blabber on about all the “smoke” surrounding the scandal and how it was about to erupt into a fire that would engulf the entire administration.
Of course no evidence of collusion or criminal activity ever emerged, but the media is sticking with the line that a ten month old investigation is still in its infancy, so they continue the drumbeat of Russia stories.
It’s clearly having an effect on the Trump administration.
The legislative agenda Trump was elected to enact – repealing Obamacare, building the wall, and cutting taxes – has stalled as Republicans in Congress and the administration must spend a disproportionate amount of time responding to fake news, conspiracy theories, and putting out made up fires.
CNN reports:
“After Trump’s unexpected 2016 win, Republicans were bullish at the start his presidency about winning wholesale changes to health care, remaking the tax system and rebuilding America’s infrastructure.
Nearly five months in, though, little of that has happened. And Trump’s top aides are now acknowledging the problem.
“There’s no doubt that keeping members focused on investigations detracts from our legislative agenda and detracts from what we’re trying to deliver to the American people,” Marc Short, Trump’s White House director of legislative affairs, told reporters on Monday.
Short’s blunt comments echo what Republicans in the White House and on Capitol Hill have said in private about the continual drip, drip, drip of controversies coming from the White House. With only so many hours to work each week, the controversies have forced Republicans to spend time responding to Trump stories and protecting the party, leaving them largely unable to move legislation through a contentious Congress.”
But that is exactly the point.
The Democrats – as well as the media – lost big time at the ballot box.
Since the GOP controls both houses of Congress and the White House, Democrats only chance to stop Trump’s agenda is to grind the gears of government to a halt.
They are aided by the media in this scheme.
Journalists constantly hype up every revelation in the Russia story as a “bombshell”.
Each story wilts under time and closer scrutiny.
But the damage is already done.
Instead of working to implement Trump’s policies, the GOP is tied in knots trying to chase down exaggerated stories or outright fake news.
And that’s the real secret of the Russia “scandal”.
It’s all smoke and mirrors designed to lead the administration into a maze that will expend all their energies in trying to escape – instead of passing the policies the voters elected Trump to put in place.
