Attorney General William Barr is on his way out of the Trump administration.
Just before his exit, Attorney General Barr dropped a major bombshell.
And William Barr delivered this bad news to Trump about a big criminal investigation.
Attorney General Barr held a press conference to announce criminal charges in the 1988 Lockerbie airline bombing.
Of course reporters only wanted to talk about President Trump’s demands for a special counsel in the criminal investigations into Hunter Biden’s foreign business dealings and voter fraud in the 2020 election.
Attorney General Barr broke with President Trump on both fronts.
In the press conference Attorney General Barr rejected the idea of appointing a special counsel to oversee investigations into Hunter Biden over allegations of tax evasions, money laundering and securities fraud.
“To the extent there’s an investigation, I think it’s being handled responsibly and professionally currently within the department, and to this point, I have not seen a reason to appoint a special counsel, and I have no plan to do so before I leave,” the Attorney General declared.
Of course, the worry isn’t with the prosecutors currently conducting the investigation.
What concerns many Americans is if Joe Biden becomes President, he can replace all of the United States attorneys and install loyalists that will make the investigation go away.
Or if Biden allows the U.S. Attorney running the Hunter Biden investigation to stay on, the new attorney general can just shut the probe down.
A special counsel would insulate those criminal investigations from political meddling by a potential Biden administration.
Finally, Attorney General Barr dismissed the idea of a special counsel to investigate voter fraud in the 2020 election.
Attorney General Barr bizarrely began his answer admitting that there is voter fraud in elections and the government turns a blind eye to this corrupt practice.
“There is fraud unfortunately in most elections, I think we’re too tolerant of it,” Attorney General Barr stated.
But even though Attorney General Barr agreed that voter fraud is an important issue and the government is not doing enough to address the problem, he still did not see a reason to appoint a special counsel.
“If I thought a special counsel at this stage was a right tool and was appropriate, I would name one, but I haven’t and I’m not going to,” Attorney General Barr added.
Finally, Attorney General Barr rejected a proposal by Trump attorney Rudy Giuliani to have the federal government impound Dominion voting machines to audit them for possible voter fraud.
“I see no basis for seizure of machines by the federal government,” Attorney General Barr stated.
The fake news media relentlessly criticized Attorney General Barr for acting like Trump’s personal attorney and for questioning the basis of the Russia investigation.
But as his time in the administration wound down, Attorney General Barr did what all establishment Republicans do and tried to curry favor with liberal reporters.
