Now the left-wing propaganda and entertainment network is facing an existential crisis.
And this bombshell sex scandal at CNN took an ugly turn that no one ever saw coming.
More shoes continue to drop in the saga of fired CNN anchor and disgraced former network president Jeff Zucker.
A New York Times story revealed unreported details that Zucker fired Cuomo after receiving a letter from Debra Katz – the lawyer who represented Christine Blasey Ford in her false sexual assault claims against Brett Kavanaugh – on behalf of a woman who claimed Chris Cuomo sexually assaulted her in 2011.
The New York Times reported:
The letter was on behalf of the woman who had worked with Mr. Cuomo at ABC News.
It relayed a story that had begun in 2011 when the woman, who was referred to as Jane Doe, was a young temporary ABC employee hoping for a full-time job. One day, after Mr. Cuomo, an anchor, had offered her career advice, he invited her to lunch in his office, according to the letter, interviews with the woman and emails between her and Mr. Cuomo.
When she arrived, there was no food. Instead, Mr. Cuomo badgered her for sex, and after she declined, he assaulted her, she said. She ran out of the room.
But Charles Gasparino of the New York Post reported on Cuomo’s side of the story.
In the Post’s story, sources close to Cuomo said Cuomo strongly denied any allegations of sexual assault and that all their dealings were professional.
“Chris Cuomo is telling people that he has evidence that the sexual assault allegation made against him at ABC is ‘false,’ that he and the woman had a ‘friendly dynamic’ and ‘nothing inappropriate’ happened,” Gasparino reported.
Gasparino added that Cuomo is prepared to go to war with CNN over what Cuomo believes is a coordinated campaign by Zucker to smear him with press leaks.
The New York Post also reports:
Cuomo is said to be incensed by leaks he believes come from people in Zucker’s camp and CNN. Zucker said he didn’t know the scope of the advice Cuomo was giving to his brother, Andrew, the former New York governor, who was also forced to resign over a sexual harassment scandal.
But Chris Cuomo has told people all his interactions with his brother during the final days of Andrew’s governorship were disclosed to Zucker.
Cuomo is locked in litigation with CNN.
The disgraced former CNN anchor is believed to not only be suing for the 18 million dollars remaining on his contract, but Cuomo also wants CNN to fork over tens of millions more to compensate him for what Cuomo claims are lost future earnings because CNN destroyed his reputation.
