Polling shows that Florida Governor Ron DeSantis is one of the top contenders to win the 2024 GOP presidential nomination.
National Democrats are beginning to react.
And this key Joe Biden ally just let it slip why Ron DeSantis is the Republican that Democrats fear the most.
Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer is one of the most tyrannical elected officials in all of America.
Whitmer won a convincing re-election bid which positioned her for a 2024 run if Biden opts not to seek re-election or in 2028.
And in an interview with former Democrat Party campaign operative and current CNN “State of the Union” host Jake Tapper, Whitmer made it clear she views DeSantis as the number one threat to Democrats’ grip on power in 2024.
Tapper teed up Whitmer with a softball about how Ron DeSantis was supposedly some “culture warrior” after DeSantis led the red state pushback against the left’s creeping wokeism in education and corporate America.
“Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, your gubernatorial colleague, is widely expected to run for president in 2024. Like you, he won re-election last year by double digits in a state that in the past has been very competitive. He’s increasingly leaning into some hot-button cultural issues, education, racial issues. Do you think that he poses a real threat to Democrats if he ends up being the Republican nominee?” Tapper wondered.
Whitmer used the same language Democrats would use to describe Donald Trump by falsely claiming DeSantis’s boast that Florida is “where woke goes to die” was divisive and destructive while also alleging she doesn’t know DeSantis.
“I don’t really know Ron DeSantis, so it’s hard for me to say anything real substantiative, other than I’ll say this – when I took my oath of office, I took an oath to be the governor for all of the people of Michigan. I don’t wage culture wars. I fight culture wars because I’m focused on solving problems. I think it’s incredibly destructive when people just try to pit others against one another, stoke fear. I think that’s a really destructive way to lead. And so that, you know, we’ll watch and see what happens. As I said, I don’t know him.”
“You just described him, in your view,” Tapper followed up.
Whitmer then reached back into the Democrats’ go-to rhetorical attacks on Republicans and threw out the labels “misinformation” and “fear” to try and describe DeSantis’s governing record in Florida.
“I think that there are people who are out there that stoke fear and anger and misinformation to help themselves politically. And I’m not saying, you know, who I think falls into that category. I’m just saying, that’s not how I operate. Every governor takes an oath to serve all the people in their state, whether they voted for them or not. That’s what should drive every decision,” Whitmer added.
DeSantis never set out to fight a culture war.
Woke liberals like Gretchen Whitmer — who claims men can have periods — brought it to Florida.
DeSantis signed legislation banning sexually inappropriate curriculum in grades K-3 because left-wing activists were using it to groom young children into transgenderism.
When Disney tried to kill the bill DeSantis showed woke corporations could not bully red states into rolling over for the left’s social agenda by signing a bill stripping Disney of its special tax and governing privileges.
DeSantis rejected an AP black history class because the materials included woke indoctrination on topics such as queer theory, reparations, feminism and Black Lives Matter.
It scares Whitmer, Biden and other Democrats that DeSantis won all these fights.
What really scares Biden and other Democrats is that DeSantis pushing back on the woke assault on the culture is popular as evidenced by the fact that DeSantis won re-election by 19 points including carrying Democrat strongholds like Miami-Dade County.
