Fox News viewers do not expect to hear excuses for Joe Biden.
Certainly not from Republicans.
But one Republican left a Fox News host stunned with this crazy defense of Joe Biden.
Former George W. Bush press secretary Ari Fleischer stunned “The Faulkner Focus” host Harris Faulkner by defending Joe Biden from charges Biden was senile and not really in charge of his administration.
“Who is running the White House, in your estimation? You have been inside, you know what it looks like, is it fair to continue to question that?” Faulkner asked Fleischer.
“Unequivocally, it’s Joe Biden.” Fleischer quickly responded.
“You think it is?” a surprised Faulkner asked.
Fleischer did not hesitate or retreat from his initial answer.
“Absolutely,” Fleischer exclaimed. “He sets the tone.”
Fleischer strangely tried to bat down the criticism of Biden that Biden hides from the press and rarely takes questions outside of heavily scripted settings claiming “he [Biden] doesn’t want to talk to the media. Because he’s running the show and he gets to make those kinds of decisions.”
That flies in the face of reporting from POLITICO that quoted press secretary Jen Psaki as admitting aides tell Biden not to take questions.
“A lot of times, we say, ‘Don’t take questions,’” Psaki revealed on former Obama chief strategist David Axelrod’s podcast. “But he’s going to do what he wants to do because he’s the president of the United States.”
Biden routinely admits this is the case when at press conferences Biden says he will get into trouble if he answers questions.
Fleischer claimed that it was wrong to think Biden’s handlers are running the show because, based on his experience in the Bush administration, the president made the call.
“I think it’s overstated to make the case it’s his advisers, it’s other people. Presidents make the call, presidents make the decisions, and Joe Biden is well enough that he is making the decisions. So it’s Joe Biden, he’s just making the wrong decisions,” Fleischer concluded.
George W. Bush was also just 54 years old when Bush entered the White House.
Biden is 78 years old, the oldest president ever to be inaugurated for a first term.
An increasing number of Americans look at Biden fumbling through answers, acting forgetful or looking frail when he moves and believe Biden is in cognitive and physical decline.
A recent Rasmussen poll found 58 percent of Americans do not believe Biden is physically or mentally up to the job of president.
Many Fox News viewers were no doubt surprised Fleischer would defend Biden from charges of serving as a senile puppet.
