Bill and Hillary Clinton’s links to shady characters once again threaten to derail the Democrat Party in an election year.
But this latest bombshell could not come at a worse time.
And that’s because a top Clinton ally is going to jail for this ugly sex scandal.
Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein was one of the star fundraisers of the Democrat Party.
Weinstein frequented the White House as an honored guest and took on a major fundraising role for Hillary Clinton’s 2016 Presidential campaign.
But no one in recent memory fell harder from grace than Weinstein.
In the fall of 2017, the New Yorker published journalist Ronan Farrow’s sickening account of Weinstein’s decades-long alleged abuse of women.
A number of women finally came forward to tell their stories and it led to Weinstein’s downfall.
Not only did Hollywood excommunicate Weinstein from the industry, but Manhattan District Attorney Cy Vance, Jr. filed multiple charges against Weinstein for criminal sexual assault, rape and for being a sexual predator.
Weinstein’s day of reckoning finally arrived when the Manhattan jury found Weinstein guilty of forcibly performing oral sex on Miriam Haley in 2006 and raping Jessica Mann in 2013.
Those convictions carry a prison sentence of between five and 29 years.
District Attorney Vance hailed the verdict as a moment of accountability in the wake of the “Me Too” movement, which was spawned after the New Yorker published Farrow’s story about Weinstein.
“Harvey Weinstein is a vicious sexual predator” who has “used his power to trick, assault and humiliate his victims,” Vance told the press after the verdict. “To the survivors of Harvey Weinstein, I owe, and we all owe, an immense debt to you.”
However, the jury found Weinstein not guilty on the most serious charges of being a sexual predator.
Jurors considered evidence that the women involved later had consensual sex with Weinstein and refused to find him guilty on those three counts.
That being said, Harvey Weinstein is 67 years old and faces the strong possibility of dying in prison.
Now that the jury closed the book on Weinstein’s crimes, many Americans are wondering how Weinstein occupied a seat of honor for so long in the Democrat Party.
While Barack Obama accused Mitt Romney of waging a fictional “war on women” in the 2012 election – the Obama team invented this narrative after a debate answer where Romney admitted to the “crime” of knowing many qualified women deserving of a promotion – Obama accepted over $45,000 in donations from convicted rapist Harvey Weinstein in the 2008 and 2012 elections.
Democrats looked the other way on Weinstein’s predatory behavior – it was an open secret in Hollywood for years – because Weinstein turned into a fundraising juggernaut.
All told, Weinstein donated nearly $900,000 and bundled $1.4 million dollars to candidates and causes.
Democrats claim to be the “party of women” but money talks and Weinstein’s campaign contributions drowned out the cries of the seemingly endless parade of women claiming Weinstein abused them.
