Donald Trump’s re-election campaign just got hit with some bad news.
That’s because the President found out it’s not just Democrats trying to deny him a second term.
This reality became clear when a top Republican betrayed Trump. It’s a defeat that left Trump speechless.
Donald Trump won in 2016 in part because the public rallied to his message of ending the Bush/Obama policy of endless wars in the Middle East.
The President sought to make good on this promise by signing a peace deal to end America’s 19-year-long war in Afghanistan.
As part of the deal, the President withdrew a little over 5,000 troops from Afghanistan and was in the process of making plans to bring home the remaining 8,600 forces on the ground with honor by the end of the year.
But as these plans took shape, the D.C. swamp threw two monkey wrenches into the equation.
First, a treasonous Deep State leaker funneled an uncorroborated report to The New York Times about the Russians paying the Taliban bounties to kill U.S. soldiers in Afghanistan.
This leak allowed establishment Bush loyalists like Congresswoman Liz Cheney to claim Trump played into Russia’s hands by withdrawing from Afghanistan and resurrecting the collusion hoax.
Liz Cheney is a relic of the Bush era when neocons like John Bolton supported going to war in every country in the Middle East and fighting wars of regime change.
Cheney worked with Democrat Jason Crow to pass an amendment to the National Defense Authorization Act that prevented the President from withdrawing anymore troops from Afghanistan unless the administration could satisfy a series of nearly impossible to meet benchmarks.
The Intercept reported that, “The imposed conditions are by no means trivial: for these troop reductions from Afghanistan to be allowed, the Defense Department must be able to certify, among other things, that leaving Afghanistan ‘will not increase the risk for the expansion of existing or formation of new terrorist safe havens inside Afghanistan’ and ‘will not compromise or otherwise negatively affect the ongoing United States counter terrorism mission against the Islamic State, al Qaeda, and associated forces.’”
Congresswoman Cheney defended her betrayal of the President by hyping up another unconfirmed Russian threat leaked by a Deep State traitor.
“After today’s briefing with senior White House officials, we remain concerned about Russian activity in Afghanistan, including reports that they have targeted U.S. forces. It has been clear for some time that Russia does not wish us well in Afghanistan,” Cheney stated.
Cheney then put the administration in a bind by claiming it needed to get to the bottom of the Russian bounty allegation despite the fact that the leak to The New York Times now made an investigation virtually impossible.
“We believe it is important to vigorously pursue any information related to Russia or any other country targeting our forces. Congress has no more important obligation than providing for the security of our nation and ensuring our forces have the resources they need. We anticipate further briefings on this issue in the coming days,” Cheney added.
When an incumbent office holder – especially a President – runs for re-election, one of their key selling points is that they made good on the promises that got them elected in the first place.
One of Donald Trump’s most popular promises was to end America’s involvement in endless Middle East wars and bring America’s troops home with dignity and victory.
By teaming with the Democrats and the Deep State, Liz Cheney is trying to hand the election to Joe Biden by denying the President the ability to make good on that pledge.
