Adam Schiff and the Democrats continue to absorb setback after setback in their disastrous impeachment witch hunt against President Trump.
Polls show support for impeachment declining and the American people are growing impatient with the Democrats’ antics.
And now Adam Schiff got hit with this ultimatum that could end impeachment.
At some point, Adam Schiff is going to have to answer for his antics in this crusade to try and drive President Trump from office.
Schiff lied about his staff not having any contact with alleged whistleblower Eric Ciaramella before Ciaramella filed his phony whistleblower complaint with the intelligence community inspector general.
During the first round of impeachment show trial hearings, Schiff blocked Republicans from calling Ciaramella.
But Schiff’s turn at the wheel in the impeachment farce is over.
And time is running out on his cover-up surrounding his staff colluding with the whistleblower to set this chain of events in motion.
The top Republican on the House Judiciary Committee – Georgia Congressman Doug Collins – announced on Fox News Sunday that Adam Schiff must testify or else his committee’s impeachment findings should be dismissed as a bad joke.
“Why are they hiding the stuff from us?” Collins told “Fox News Sunday” host Chris Wallace. “If they think they have such a case, give us all the materials and don’t let Jerry Nadler write a crazy letter that says on the 6th, let us know who your witnesses are. We don’t even have the information from the Intel Committee yet. This is why this is a problematic exercise and simply a made-for-TV event coming on Wednesday.”
“This is a complete American waste of time right here,” Collins added. “Chris, he did nothing improper.”
Even if House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerry Nadler blocks the Republicans from calling Schiff from testifying, it will soon be Schiff in the barrel.
That’s because Donald Trump’s lawyers will call Schiff to the witness stand in any impeachment trial.
President Trump’s lawyers will also call Ciaramella to testify.
Schiff and Ciaramella know this and they are in damage control mode.
Ciaramella and Schiff’s staff leaked a story to CBS News claiming Ciaramella did not discuss anything of substance in their meeting and that Schiff’s staff pointed Ciaramella toward filing a whistleblower complaint.
CBS News exclusively reported:
According to the document, the whistleblower reported to the ICIG investigator that the committee staffer advised: “‘Do it right, hire a lawyer, and contact the ICIG.’ So that is what the COMPLAINANT did. At the time, COMPLAINANT did not even know what the ICIG was.”
The whistleblower felt that “[b]ased on getting guidance on a procedural question, and that no substance of the actual disclosure was discussed, COMPLAINANT did not feel, based on the way the form question was worded, that it was necessary to check that box.”
But even this admission is damning for Schiff and Ciaramella.
Schiff’s staff suggested filing a whistleblower complaint because it would set up a record and force the intelligence community inspector general to turn the complaint over to Congress.
The meeting between Schiff’s staff and Ciaramella was expressly for the purpose of creating grounds for impeachment.
