The scope of the disaster Adam Schiff led the Democrats into on impeachment is becoming clear for all to see.
Schiff’s lying, hypocritical and shady conduct are among the many reasons public sentiment is moving against the Democrats and impeachment.
And now Adam Schiff might be impeached after this cover-up collapsed.
The final straw for many Americans was the cowardice Adam Schiff displayed when he hid behind his staff and refused to testify after producing a 300-page report filled with rumor, gossip and innuendo forming the grounds for the Democrats’ impeachment case against President Trump.
Former special prosecutor Ken Starr appeared before Congress in 1998 after Starr and his team produced their report to answer questions from members of Congress.
Schiff dispatched TV lawyer Daniel Goldman to testify before the committee.
During Goldman’s testimony, Republican Ranking Member Georgia Congressman Doug Collins pressed Goldman to explain the decision to include phone records from Congressman Devin Nunes and journalist John Solomon in the report.
Goldman explained that Democrats subpoenaed phone records of Rudy Giuliani and indicted Ukrainian Lev Parnas and that Nunes and Solomon made calls to Giuliani and Parnas during the time period Democrats claim they participated in a scheme to withhold Ukrainian military aid in exchange for politically helpful investigations for President Trump.
Collins wasn’t buying this nonsense and called the stunt Schiff and Goldman did out as a smear campaign.
“It was a drive by. It was a gratuitous drive by that you wanted to smear the ranking member,” Collins declared.
Collins also wanted to know why they named Nunes and Solomon instead of using descriptors such as “Congressman 1” and “Journalist 1” as prosecutors typically do in indictments to protect the identity of individuals not under investigation.
The Georgia Republican noted that Goldman was under oath and demanded an answer.
Incredibly, Goldman stonewalled and refused to answer a question despite appearing under oath.
“I’m not going to reveal how we conducted this investigation,” Goldman shot back.
Collins was not the only Republican outraged at Adam Schiff refusing to testify and explain why they outed Nunes and Solomon in their report despite the fact neither was accused of any wrongdoing.
“Where I do have a problem and a really big problem … is the fact that somebody made a decision to match certain data, megadata, metadata that had been collected through the subpoena with phone numbers of journalists and members of Congress, and that is the beginning of a surveillance state, which I think is outrageous,” Wisconsin Republican Jim Sensenbrenner claimed.
“I think it’s disgraceful, it’s appalling, it ought to frighten the hell out of every American. If he can do that to Devin Nunes, he can do that to anybody he doesn’t like,” California Congressman McClintock added.
Republicans noted one other irony.
Going into the hearing, Democrats telegraphed that they were preparing to impeach Donald Trump on a charge of obstructing Congress because the President asserted executive privilege in ordering his top aides not to testify or turn over documents.
But in the same hearing where Democrats sent staff lawyers to make this very case, Adam Schiff refused to answer questions from Congress and his chief investigator and TV lawyers continued the cover-up.
