Adam Schiff and the Democrats bit off way more than they could chew in the impeachment witch hunt.
They expected two weeks’ worth of public hearings to be the beginning of the end for Donald Trump.
And Adam Schiff got hit with the results of this one poll that was the final nail in impeachment’s coffin.
Under Adam Schiff’s direction, the Democrats staged multiple marathon impeachment public hearings.
Schiff’s goal was to drown the president in negative headlines based on “damning” and “bombshell” testimony.
Instead, Adam Schiff bored the public as alleged witnesses testified to a bureaucratic game of telephone where they admitted everything they knew about withholding Ukrainian military aid was based on guesses and opinions since none of the witnesses called by Schiff had ever met Donald Trump or spoken to the president.
Television ratings declined every day and even Democrats tuned out of the hearings.
A Harvard/Harris poll found the percentage of Democrats that were paying close attention to the hearings declined five points.
That’s not surprising.
The fake and corrupt news media played along with Adam Schiff and promised each day that there would be “devastating” revelations proving Donald Trump’s guilt of impeachable offenses.
But anyone closely following the hearings quickly realized the Democrats had nothing.
Their star witnesses were arrogant and delusional bureaucrats that were more loyal to the “interagency process” and Ukraine than the United States.
Hours of testimony devolved into therapy sessions for whiny Deep State bureaucrats complaining about their “feelings.”
The Harris poll was not the only poll that showed the hearings to be a loser for the Democrats.
Fake news CNN released a survey showing that the exact same number of Americans supported impeaching and removing Donald Trump from office after the hearings that did before they began.
There is an old saying in politics that if you are standing still you are losing ground.
That appeared to be what happened to the Democrats.
A Quinnipiac poll released after the hearings found 45 percent of voters thought the president should be impeached and removed from office.
That represented a three point decline from Quinnipiac’s October poll which found 48 percent of voters backed impeaching and removing Donald Trump from office.
But Democrats are locked into this losing battle.
Their base – as well as their cheerleaders in the fake and corrupt news media – would never forgive House Speaker Nancy Pelosi unless she pushed forward with articles of impeachment in the House of Representatives.
Pelosi tabling impeachment and trying to move on to other fights would only risk depressing the Democrat voting base ahead of the 2020 Presidential Election.
If Democrats don’t get supercharged base turnout in 2020 they can forget any chances of defeating Donald Trump in his bid for a second term.
And that would leave Democrats empty-handed on all fronts.
