Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez once again ignited a political firestorm.
Ocasio-Cortez’s constant need to record her every thought once again proved to be her undoing.
And Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez was caught on tape in one compromising situation.
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez got all flustered after Republicans moved to censure her for the false claim that Texas Senator Ted Cruz tried to get her killed at the January 6 riot at the Capitol.
Ocasio-Cortez turned to her ability to create viral social media moments to change the narrative.
The socialist Congresswoman did that by livestreaming an emotional testimonial to her social media recounting a harrowing experience of a rioter supposedly breaking into her office during the Capitol riot and trying to assassinate her.
Ocasio-Cortez described hiding in her office bathroom thinking the worst was about to happen.
“And so I run back into my office,” Ocasio-Cortez stated. “I slam my door. There’s another kind of like back area to my office, and I open it, and there’s a closet and a bathroom. And I jump into my bathroom.”
The media picked up Ocasio-Cortez’s video and some outlets ran with the lie that Ocasio-Cortez felt her life was in danger when a rioter stormed into her office.
Ocasio-Cortez got caught in multiple falsehoods in this video.
First, the man that rushed into her office was a Capitol Hill police officer trying to get her to safety.
“It didn’t feel right,” Ocasio-Cortez claimed. “Because he was looking at me with a tremendous amount of anger and hostility. Things weren’t adding up. There was no partner there. He wasn’t yelling ‘this is Capitol Police, this is Capitol Police.’ And he was looking at me in all of this anger and hostility,” Ocasio-Cortez said.
Ocasio-Cortez later admitted the reason she felt she could not trust the police officer was because he was white.
But the bigger problem was Ocasio-Cortez made it seem like the rioters were streaming toward her office ready to do great harm.
However, Ocasio-Cortez’s office is not in the Capitol.
Ocasio-Cortez’s office is located in the Cannon Building which was not under attack from rioters.
Even liberal Republican South Carolina Congresswoman Nancy Mace called out Ocasio-Cortez for her blatant falsehood.
“@AOCmade clear she didn’t know who was at her door. Breathless attempts by media to fan fictitious news flames are dangerous. My office is 2 doors down. Insurrectionists never stormed our hallway. Egregious doesn’t even begin to cover it. Is there nothing MSM won’t politicize?” Mace wrote on social media.
Critics argued that Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez wanted to turn herself into a victim to deflect the spotlight from her outrageous and false attacks on Ted Cruz.
But in doing so, critics contended that Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez told an equally outrageous and false story about what happened to her on January 6.
