Democrats and Never Trumps impeaching Donald Trump just blew up in their faces.
They never saw the blowback coming.
And all hell broke loose when Rand Paul told this truth about impeaching Kamala Harris.
Ever since the riot at the Capitol, Republican members of Congress curled up in a fetal position as Democrats and their tag team partners in the media rained down rhetorical blows about Donald Trump inciting insurrection and that Republicans were complicit in a terrorist movement of sedition.
On the day senators were sworn in as jurors in Donald Trump’s second impeachment trial Kentucky Senator Rand Paul had enough.
Paul forced a vote to declare the trial unconstitutional due to the fact that Donald Trump was no longer President.
In his speech, Paul warned Democrats they were traveling down a dangerous road by citing Democrats cheering the Black Lives Matter riots this summer that caused nearly two billion dollars in damages and multiple times the number of deaths as occurred in the January 6 riot.
“In fact, Republicans, to our credit, have never once thought it legitimate to formally censor or impeach these Democrats. No Republican has sought to use the government to hold these Democrats responsible for Antifa and Black Lives Matter violence that has consumed our cities all summer, resulting in over a billion dollars of destruction, looting, and property damage. Not one Republican said, ‘Oh, let’s impeach the Democrats who are inciting this.’ Because it would be ridiculous,” Paul stated.
Paul pointed out that Vice President Kamala Harris could be accused of inciting violence and face impeachment over her efforts to raise money for a fund that bailed violent rioters in Minneapolis out of jail.
“Many on the Democrat side of the aisle cheered them on. [Then-Senator] Kamala Harris famously offered to pay the bill for those who were arrested. I wonder if she’ll be brought up on charges of inciting violence for that now that she’s Vice President.
“Should Kamala Harris be impeached for offering to pay for violent people to get out of jail who have been burning our cities down? No! And no Republican has offered that, because we’re not going down the road the Democrats have decided, this low road of impeaching people for political speech,” Paul argued.
Senator Paul was the first Republican Senator to actually confront the substance of the article of impeachment against Donald Trump.
Many Trump supporters were thrilled to see a Republican condemn the horrific violence, but also debunk the Democrats’ claims on factual and constitutional grounds.
Paul’s motion to dismiss the article of impeachment as unconstitutional showed this trial was a dead-end.
While the motion failed, just five Republicans—Never Trump traitors Mitt Romney, Ben Sasse, Lisa Murkowski, Susan Collins and Pat Toomey—joined the Democrats, demonstrating there were nowhere near the 67 votes necessary to convict Donald Trump.
