Donald Trump is not going to be happy with what Republicans in Washington just did.
Fireworks are likely to ensue.
And all hell broke loose when Trump learned the GOP surrendered on this fight.
Donald Trump’s repeatedly attacked Joe Biden’s illegal federal vaccine mandate and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell for aiding and abetting Joe Biden’s socialist agenda.
Those two tracks intersected when Mitch McConnell led Senate Republicans in supporting Joe Biden’s federal vaccine mandate.
Utah Senator Mike Lee proposed an amendment to a government spending bill to fund the government through February.
Lee’s amendment would defund the illegal federal vaccine mandate that multiple federal judges blocked from going into effect until legal challenges played out.
All 48 Republicans in attendance voted for Lee’s amendment but it failed on a 48-50 vote.
McConnell and 19 other Senate Republicans then turned around and voted to fund the vaccine mandate they all claim to oppose by voting in favor of the government funding bill.
After waving the white flag and voting to fund and support Joe Biden’s illegal federal vaccine mandate, Mitch McConnell attempted to gaslight Republicans in an interview on Fox News into thinking the Senate could still stop the vaccine mandate.
“I think there is good news, multiple courts have pushed the pause button on these government vaccine mandates. There’s a decent chance the courts will strike them down. Secondly, next week, we’re going to have a vote on the vaccine mandate prohibiting that regulation from going into effect. I think it has a decent chance of passing the Senate. I don’t think shutting down the government over this issue is going to get an outcome. It would only create chaos and uncertainty. So, I don’t think that’s the best vehicle to get this job done. I think the courts are likely to get it done or we’ll pass, early next week, freestanding, a measure to overturn the government mandate,” McConnell stated.
McConnell cannot pass a free-standing measure to overturn the vaccine mandate.
What Senator McConnell is referring to is using the Congressional Review Act which allows the Senate to vote on a simple majority to undo a regulation that was issued in the last 60 days.
But what Mitch McConnell is not telling Fox News viewers is that the president must sign a Congressional Review Act resolution to make it official.
And there is no way Joe Biden is signing anything that undoes his federal vaccine mandate.
Republicans’ chance to stop the vaccine mandate was in the government funding bill.
And Mitch McConnell and 19 other Republicans put their cards on the table and showed they stood with Joe Biden by supporting a federal vaccine mandate.
It’s clear McConnell and other establishment Republicans failed to learn the lesson of Donald Trump’s rise.
Trump was already furious at McConnell for supporting Joe Biden’s socialist agenda by voting for a $1.2 trillion Green New Deal-style spending bill.
McConnell and other establishment Republicans voting in favor of funding a federal vaccine mandate will also likely draw the ire of Donald Trump.
