Barack Obama ran for President to “fundamentally change” America.
Once in office, Obama used race baiting rhetoric and policies to divide Americans and push his radical agenda.
But thanks to this Jeff Sessions announcement, Obama’s most racist policy is history.
The Departments of Justice and Education are publishing new guidance documents that would rescind the Obama administration’s discriminatory policy of encouraging colleges and universities to consider race as part of the admissions process.
These guidance documents are not law, but if colleges and universities continue to operate under their Obama-era affirmative action policies, they could be sued by the Department of Justice.
Department of Justice spokesman Devin O’Malley stated, “The executive branch cannot circumvent Congress or the courts by creating guidance that goes beyond the law and — in some instances — stays on the books for decades.”
Under the guise of promoting “diversity,” the Obama administration pushed this policy to favor certain minority groups that were loyal voting constituencies.
Critics have blasted affirmative action as nothing more than reverse racism.
It allows under-qualified candidates to be considered for admissions because of their status as a member of certain “protected” classes.
But one of the biggest victims of affirmative action is Asian students.
After Justice Kennedy cast the swing vote in a 2016 case about admissions to the University of Texas, a new case began percolating that has the potential to end affirmative action for good.
A group of Asian students is suing Harvard over what they claim are discriminatory admissions policies.
Students for Fair Admissions – the group suing Harvard – claims the elite university is admitting the same number of white, Hispanic, black and Asian students every year, which is an unlawful quote scheme.
Edward Blum, the President of Students for Fair Admission, stated,
“It falls afoul of our most basic civil rights principles, and those principles are that your race and your ethnicity should not be something to be used to harm you in life nor help you in life.”
With Donald Trump poised to nominate the replacement for Justice Kennedy, affirmative action is squarely on the chopping block.
Last year, Attorney General Jeff Sessions circulated a document from the Justice Department that announced the DOJ was looking to shift resources towards suing colleges and universities over their discriminatory affirmative action admissions policies.
The New York Times – which obtained an exclusive copy of the memo – reported:
“The Trump administration is preparing to redirect resources of the Justice Department’s civil rights division toward investigating and suing universities over affirmative action admissions policies deemed to discriminate against white applicants, according to a document obtained by The New York Times.
The document, an internal announcement to the civil rights division, seeks current lawyers interested in working for a new project on “investigations and possible litigation related to intentional race-based discrimination in college and university admissions.”
Liberals are wedded to the idea of group rights.
By creating “rights” for groups – as opposed to individuals – Democrats build loyal voting coalitions and claim Republicans want to take away the “rights” of whichever group you belong to.
It’s a racist and discriminatory practice, but it helped Democrats like Obama win elections.
Attorney General Jeff Sessions is working to undo this racist legacy and push America toward the color blind meritocracy envisioned by civil rights leaders like Martin Luther King, Jr.
Do you agree with Jeff Sessions decision to repeal Obama’s racist college admissions guidance standards?
