Donald Trump’s enemies pounced on the riot in Charlottesville to smear him.
Chief among them was Bernie Sanders.
But he instantly regretted his attack on Trump.
Sanders exploited the tragic death of 32 year-old Heather Heyer to try and score cheap political points against Trump.
He initially sent out two tweets he later deleted directly blaming Trump for the violence.
Bernie Sanders for some reason went two iterations of this tweet before settling on the final one. https://t.co/mOHPkP8P9r pic.twitter.com/se2ZaoXGOx

He later settled on a tweet where he ripped Trump for his accurate statement that the white supremacists, anti-fa, and Black Lives Matter protestors all shared in blame for the violence.
The message President Trump sent out to racists and Neo-Nazis all over the country this past weekend is this is okay. pic.twitter.com/k7o161yzuU

Sanders is hardly one to talk on this front.
Just weeks ago, one of his supporters attempted to assassinate Republican members of Congress with a high powered rifle while they were practicing for the Congressional baseball game.
The shooter was fueled by his hatred of Trump that had been fed by conspiracy theories in mainstream left-wing media outlets.
And this attack came right after a knife-wielding Sanders supporter committed mass murder in Portland, Oregon.
Sanders also made a mistake because Trump’s words condemning the hatred and violence on both sides were accurate.
Reporters on the scene noted that left-wing counter protestors were just as violent as the white supremacists.
2. The hard left seemed as hate-filled as alt-right. I saw club-wielding "antifa" beating white nationalists being led out of the park 2/2

Sanders had a big problem on his hands when he originally tweeted out that Trump was to blame for Charlottesville.
It would open him to have to take responsibility for his fanatic supporter who tried to assassinate Republican members of Congress.
And he was lying about Trump being responsible.
Trump has repeatedly and forcefully condemned racism and bigotry.
But the left needs to take stock of the fact that anti-fa and Black Lives Matter show up at these protests and also engage in violence.
