Bill Clinton’s history of sexual misconduct with women has finally caught up with him.
And it could not happen at a worse possible time.
Now his past sex scandals are having one unbelievable impact on the midterm election.
Democrats Avoid Bill Clinton On The Campaign Trail
Bill Clinton used to be one of the Democrats top campaigners.
Candidates would bring in Clinton to win over blue-collar voters.
That is no more.
Democrats don’t want any part of Bill Clinton.
Tamika D. Mallory, who helped organize the radical left-wing Women’s March, just threw cold water on the idea that Clinton could help the Democrats.
She politely told the New York Times that he would be better off avoiding politics and focusing on noncontroversial efforts instead.
“I’m not sure that with all the issues he has, he could really be that helpful to the candidates,” Mallory stated. “It would do the Democratic Party well to have Bill Clinton focus on his humanitarian efforts.”
Bill Clinton’s spokesman Angel Ureña tried to put on a happy face about the end of Bill Clinton’s usefulness to the Democrat Party saying, “This election should be about these times and these candidates.”
“President Clinton is encouraged by the large number of impressive Democrats running for office who are personally telling their stories and laying out their vision for how to get America back on track,” Ureña continued. “They are the people voters need to hear from.”
Bill Clinton Allies Also Abandon The Former President
Even former Clinton loyalists are sprinting away from associating themselves with Clinton.
Forget appearing in public with him, they won’t even admit to having private conversations with him.
Donna Shalala served as Clinton’s Secretary of Health and Human Services.
She is running for a Republican-held Congressional seat in Miami.
Shalala is locked in a tighter-than-expected race with Republican Maria Elvira Salazar who is well known for her work as a former local news anchor.
Shalala told the New York Times she hadn’t spoken to Clinton about her race.
“He has a great political mind. I actually haven’t talked to him myself,” Shalala declared.
“It’s not a time for national Democrats who are not thinking of running for president to be out on the campaign trail,” said Paul Begala, a Democratic strategist and White House aide to Mr. Clinton. “He never stops or wants to stop but he’s a very smart politician and understands the rhythms this cycle.”
This is a humbling end to Bill Clinton’s political career.
Democrats and the media ignored his sexual misconduct scandals for decades because he was their top political star.
But in the wake of the #MeToo movement, many Democrats worry he will turn off their base.
They depend on younger, radical feminists to turn out in order to win elections.
These voters believe Bill Clinton is the symbol of powerful men who get away with mistreating women.
And in a close election, a drop in support from any voter group could cost Democrats the election.
