Democrats scrambled into full damage control mode after Joe Biden’s disaster in Afghanistan.
Party leaders watched Biden’s poll numbers sink and grew concerned about their own political prospects.
But that led to mistakes and Chuck Schumer humiliated himself with this horrendous lie about Joe Biden.
Democrats struggled with defending the indefensible.
Joe Biden’s haphazardly planned and ineptly executed withdrawal resulted in the deaths of 13 U.S. soldiers after Biden dispatched 6,000 troops to guard the Kabul airport as part of a slapdash plan to evacuate thousands of Americans left behind.
Polls now show Joe Biden underwater as a series of crises – culminating with the Afghanistan debacle – eroded Biden’s public support.
A local New York TV reporter asked Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer if Joe Biden’s failure in Afghanistan would damage Democrats’ chances in the 2022 midterms.
Schumer’s answer was revealing in that he tried to dodge the question.
“You know, I can’t predict that,” Schumer stated. “I will say there will be a job for congressional oversight. There always is.”
The Biden team believes the American people will ultimately credit Biden for ending the war in spite of the disastrous withdrawal.
Schumer – whose political instincts rank right up there – did not even attempt that spin realizing that the truth about the debacle rendered Afghanistan a political loser for Democrats.
Instead, Schumer tried to lessen the political blow from the Afghanistan withdrawal by falsely claiming every American that wanted to leave Afghanistan got out of the country.
“But at the moment, actually, I’m still focused on trying to get some of those brave Afghans out,”Schumer added. “The Americans, all of whom wanted to come out have come out, praise God. But there are a lot of Afghans who risked their lives for our soldiers and others. Many got out, some didn’t, and I’m still working on trying to get some of them out.”
That is not true.
The administration admitted it stranded 100 American citizens in Afghanistan due to the bungled withdrawal plan.
But even that was a lie.
Texas Congressman Mike McCaul told Fox News that in a classified briefing the administration admitted the number of Americans deserted in Afghanistan was in the hundreds.
“You know, I’ve been given the answer in the classified space but it’s in the hundreds. We have hundreds of American citizens left behind enemy lines in Afghanistan as I speak. And also, very sadly, the interpreters who worked with our special forces, almost all of them were left behind and were not let in the gates at the airport at HKI to get out,” McCaul explained.
Americans believe in leaving no man behind.
One reason Afghanistan tanked Joe Biden’s numbers was because he betrayed the fundamental promise of the U.S. government to its citizens – and that is if your life is in danger the government will move heaven and earth to save your life.
Chuck Schumer knows this to be the case.
But Schumer has to defend his party’s president.
And that led Schumer to telling an easily disprovable lie.
