With the 2020 election fast approaching, Democrats are scrambling for a strategy to defeat Donald Trump.
Democrats’ belief that they stumbled upon the silver bullet to bring down the President quickly turned into a nightmare.
That realization set in after Chuck Schumer told this one lie about the coronavirus. It just blew up in his face.
The China coronavirus is quickly reaching the threshold of global pandemic.
While the rate of new infections is slowing in China – which is a sign the Chinese government has a handle on the outbreak – hundreds of news cases are popping up daily in Italy, Iran and South Korea.
All told, there are 79,000 confirmed coronavirus cases and around 2,500 deaths that resulted from the mysterious virus.
The coronavirus and threat it poses to global stability came sharply into focus on Tuesday after the stock market plunged another 800 points.
This drop took place after Monday’s 1,031 point crash.
Combined, Monday and Tuesday represented the biggest two day point drop in stocks since the 2008 financial crisis.
Prior to Monday, Democrats were at a loss for how to campaign against President Trump making the historic economic boom the focal point of his pitch to voters as to why they should reward him with four more years in the White House.
Chuck Schumer and the Democrats seized on the stock market drop fueled by investor panic over uncertainty to falsely claim the Trump administration had no plan to deal with the coronavirus.
“All of the warning lights are flashing bright red on Coronavirus, but the Trump administration appears to have no plan, no urgency. We must get a handle on Coronavirus and make sure the United States is fully prepared to deal with its potentially far-reaching consequences,” Schumer tweeted on Monday.
Schumer followed that up with a floor speech on Tuesday lying about the Trump administration’s response in which it asked for $2.5 billion in emergency funding to combat a possible coronavirus outbreak in the United States.
“Here in the United States, the Trump administration has been caught flat-footed. The administration has no plan to deal with the coronavirus, no plan and seemingly no urgency to develop one,” Schumer ranted.
“The Trump administration is scrambling to respond. We have a crisis, and the Trump administration is trying to build an airplane while already in mid-flight,” Schumer continued.
This was – in fact – a lie.
Back in January, Donald Trump put in place travel restrictions that mandated any U.S. citizen that traveled to China’s Hubei Province – the epicenter of the outbreak in China – spend 14 days in quarantine as well as banning any foreign national that traveled to China within the 14 days prior to the restrictions going into place.
These measures worked.
The U.S. had 14 confirmed cases of coronavirus inside America as of two weeks ago.
That number still stands at 14 with the only new cases being Americans that caught the virus overseas and were evacuated back to the United States.
President Trump alluded to Schumer’s hypocrisy and the fact that Democrats would criticize him no matter what in a post on social media.
The President fired back tweeting that “Cryin’ Chuck Schumer is complaining, for publicity purposes only, that I should be asking for more money than $2.5 Billion to prepare for Coronavirus. If I asked for more he would say it is too much. He didn’t like my early travel closings. I was right. He is incompetent!”
