Chuck just stepped in it big time.
Obamagate is consuming the Democrat Party and Barack Obama and his allies are coming under intense scrutiny.
Now Chuck Schumer tried to get away with this lie. It was the worst mistake of his life.
President Trump accused Barack Obama of being a central player in Obamagate – the criminal conspiracy cooked up by the Obama administration and FBI to frame Trump and his campaign for being Russian assets.
That caused all hell to break loose in Washington.
Protecting Barack Obama at all costs is a sacred duty for the inhabitants of the Washington swamp.
President Trump raised the stakes in an interview with Fox News Channel’s Maria Bartiromo who asked the President what role Obama played in Obamagate.
Trump told Bartiromo that while Obama did not direct the coup attempt to end his presidency, Obama was certainly aware of the scheme.
“Yes, he probably directed them but if he didn’t direct them, he knew everything,” Trump explained. “And you’re going to see that when the papers come out.”
That set off Democrats.
The left knows the Obama Deep State got caught with their hands in the cookie jar.
To try and deflect attention away from the growing questions about “Obamagate,” Chuck Schumer sat for a friendly interview with MSNBC.
But even a series of softball questions could not save Schumer as the New York Democrat stumbled through a disastrous answer where Schumer once again falsely accused the President of spreading Russian disinformation.
“Right now, at the White House — at the Camp David, instead of the president sitting down and talking with experts on COVID and how to get the testing out, or how to follow up on getting a vaccine, instead of doing what he usually does, makes a grandiose announcement and then forgets about it, he’s talking to a group of hard-right Republican congressmen to talk about more conspiracy theories,” Schumer began.
“How do we go after Joe Biden? How do we go after Barack Obama? Mr. President, there’s a crisis in America. Stop these conspiracy theories, many of which had Russian origin, and start rolling up your sleeves and helping us solve the problem here,” Schumer concluded.
By baselessly accusing President Trump of spreading Russian disinformation, Schumer invited scrutiny on the Russian collusion narrative and how the Obama administration and FBI spread that hoax.
The central pillar of the Russian collusion investigation was the Christopher Steele dossier.
Steele’s dossier contained three claims that fueled the collusion narrative.
First, Steele claimed Trump lawyer Michael Cohen traveled to Prague to arrange a deal to coordinate with Russian intelligence during the election.
The FBI also used Steele’s claims that in Moscow, Carter Page struck a lucrative deal for a stake in a Russian energy company which made Page an asset of the Russian government.
Finally, Steele alleged that the Russians possessed a “pee tape” video they could use to blackmail President Trump.
All of these allegations are false and likely the work of Russian intelligence purposefully planting disinformation.
