A big story that CNN ran turned out to be a complete hoax.
But they won’t admit their awful coverage.
CNN tried to cover up a huge lie by attempting to rewrite history in a shocking way.
For over a week CNN and all the mainstream media reported that Border Patrol agents whipped illegal immigrants from Haiti attempting to cross the U.S. border in Texas.
From the beginning there was video and there were eyewitnesses that the media could have questioned.
Yet strangely the mainstream media didn’t choose to actually investigate the picture.
In fact,on Friday September 24, Paul Ratje, who took the pictures, said that they weren’t what they appeared.
“Some of the Haitian men started running, trying to go around the horses,” Ratje said.
But he noted that he never saw the Border Patrol agents whipping anyone.
“I’ve never seen them whip anyone,” Ratje said. “He was swinging it…but it can be misconstrued when you’re looking at the picture.”
CNN didn’t bother to check before jumping on the story.
Chris Cuomo shared erroneous “reports of people being beaten,” claiming the images “smack of a bygone era, of slavery,” on Friday, September 24.
Erin Burnett reported on an alleged “video of border patrol agents on horseback confronting Haitian migrants with whips”on September 21.
CNN White House correspondent John Harwood condemned “those horrendous videos of agents on horseback swinging lariats or whips, or whatever they were” on Friday, September 24.
CNN’s April Ryan asked White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki on September 22 if the Biden administration condemns what the “patrol agents were doing with the reins or whips, whatever, with the intent to lash, to hurt people, to keep them away from the border,”to which Psaki responded that she was “outraged.”
Numerous other examples could be found of CNN’s coverage of the story.
In fact it appears that CNN continued the story even after the photographer of the story came forward saying that the pictures were “misconstrued.”
But now CNN is slamming the media for “faulty media narrative” without mentioning its own coverage of the story.
“How can DHS claim to have an independent investigation into these Border Patrol agents, when the president says, quote, ‘Those people will pay,’ and you say the images ‘horrified us’?” Tapper questioned Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas on Sunday’s “State of the Union.”
Mayorkas doubled down that “what those images suggest, what they appeared to portray, was horrifying.”
“But that’s the thing,” Tapper responded. “Some of the initial descriptions of those images were just patently false. There’s now video out there that provides more context. Having seen the video, are you certain that there was actually wrongdoing?”
He pressed the secretary, “Can the Border Patrol count on you and President Biden, who has said that people will pay, to come to a determination based on the facts and not based on Twitter outrage?”
CNN stirred up the outrage with its faulty reporting and then turned around and blamed the Biden administration for acting on it.
If CNN had any integrity every host who wrongly reported the story would publicly report on the truth of the story but that’s not what they’re doing, instead they’re just trying to hide their bad journalism.
