Some Democrats are unhappy because Joe Biden is poised to get the Democrat nomination.
And one in particular is rebelling against the Democratic establishment.
A Democrat challenger hurled a massive accusation at Biden that could take him down.
Democratic candidate and self-help author Marianne Williamson accused the Democratic National Committee (DNC) of “rigging” the primary system in favor of President Biden on Sunday.
“The [Democratic National Committee] should not be rigging this system. They don’t even pretend anymore. They’re not even covert about their — their swaying the primary season. They’re very overt about it,” said Williamson, a former spiritual guru to Oprah Winfrey, on ABC News’ “This Week.”
Williamson highlighted the fact that the DNC had decided to move New Hampshire from the first spot of the Democrats’ primary election season and replace it with South Carolina, a state Biden won in a landslide in 2020, and which revived his floundering campaign and gained him the nomination.
ABC News’ Jonathan Karl asked Williamson, “So that’s what’s going on, is they’re rigging the system for Biden?”
Williamson replied, “They even admit that, Jonathan.”
“I believe the American people should be offered an agenda for genuine, fundamental economic reform. And … it should not be the DNC that decides. It should be the voters who decide. That is what a democracy is,” Williamson said in her response.
White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre has openly mocked Williamson’s presidential bid.
“I’m just not tracking that,” Jean-Pierre told the Washington Examiner when asked during Monday’s press briefing if Biden was “annoyed” or “frustrated” that Williamson jumped into the race ahead of him.
“If I had a — what is it called? — a little globe here, a crystal ball, then I could tell you. A magic 8-ball, whatever, if I could feel her aura,” she continued. “But I just don’t have anything to share on that.”
Williamson blasted The Associated Press for calling her presidential bid a “longshot.”
“I would bet that ’The Associated Press’ also said that Hillary Clinton was a shoo-in,” she said noting Clinton’s loss in 2016 to Donald Trump.
“So the system that is now saying that I’m unserious and I’m not credible or I’m a long shot is the very system that protects and maintains this idea that only those whose careers have been entrenched within the system that drove us into a ditch should possibly be considered qualified to lead us out of that ditch,” she said.
“My qualification is not that I know how to perpetuate that system. My qualification is that I know how to disrupt it. And that is what we need,” she added.
