Democrats are engaged in a full scale campaign to “resist” President Trump.
This includes impeachment.
But one top Democrat crossed a red line when he suggested this frightening plan to remove Trump from office.
Congressman Tom Suozzi (D-NY) was at a town hall event in his Long Island district when he was asked how far Democrats should be willing to go to resist the President.
Suozzi suggested taking up arms and launching an armed rebellion.
The New York Post reports:
“A Democratic congressman from Long Island implied that Americans should grab weapons and oppose President Trump by force, if the commander-in-chief doesn’t follow the Constitution.
Rep. Tom Suozzi made the remark to constituents at a town hall last week, saying that folks opposed to Trump might resort to the “Second Amendment.”
“It’s really a matter of putting public pressure on the president,” Suozzi said in a newly released video of the March 12 talk in Huntington. “This is where the Second Amendment comes in, quite frankly, because you know, what if the president was to ignore the courts? What would you do? What would we do?”
A listener then blurts out, “What’s the Second Amendment?”
The left-leaning Democrat says, “The Second Amendment is the right to bear arms.”
This is an unthinkable suggestion from an elected representative.
And when questioned about his remarks, his campaign doubled down on starting a shooting war with the President and his supporters by quoting Thomas Jefferson.
The Post also reports:
“But the Suozzi campaign at the same time seemed to double down on the comments, as they forwarded a line penned by Thomas Jefferson that called for armed resistance.
“What country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance. Let them take arms,” the quote said.”
Suozzi – who is a strong supporter of gun control – actually called on Americans take up arms against the duly elected government of the United States.
It could lead to an assassination attempt on Trump.
It’s outrageous.
If a Republican were to make such a statement as this, the media would be gorging themselves on their own self-righteousness about how the Republican Party is an extremist faction that doesn’t believe in American democracy and is unfit to govern a great Republic.
But this incident will get nothing more than a passing mention on CNN, MSNBC, CBS, ABC, NBC and the New York Times.
That’s because the facts are inconvenient for Democrats and do not fit the narrative they are trying to shape.
