One story has dominated the last 18 months in American politics.
It has been the media’s obsession with proving Donald Trump colluded with the Russians in order to steal the 2016 Presidential election from Hillary Clinton.
And all hell is breaking loose after a top Democrat said the one thing about Trump and Russia that left everyone speechless.
Virginia Democrat Mark Warner is the ranking member on the Senate Intelligence Committee.
Warner and the North Carolina Republican Richard Burr – who is the committee’s chairman – have one of the major Congressional investigations into the 2016 election and alleged Russian meddling.
The Senate Intelligence Committee has previously released a report that marched in lockstep with the Obama administration’s conclusion that the Russians allegedly meddled in the 2016 election in order to boost Donald Trump into the winner’s circle.
But in an Intelligence Committee hearing, Warner had a rare moment of honesty that exposed the idea that the Russians worked on Trump’s behalf for the fraud that it is.
Warner began his remarks by praising Burr’s leadership on the investigation.
Warner stated “ He has been a great ally, has moved this committee forward on a whole host of technology issues. This is one where there is no Democratic or Republican answer.”
The ranking Democrat quickly pivoted to the meat of his remarks – that the Russian hackers had no ideological affection for either party.
This was not a pro-Republican operation.
Russian hackers allegedly released stolen emails because they wanted to sow discord and divisiveness in American politics.
“Clearly the goal of our adversaries was not to favor one party over the other,” the Virginia Democrat declared. “It was to wreak havoc and split divisions and I think the committee under your leadership is trying to take this issue on.”
This was a jaw-dropping admission by a high ranking Democrat with access to all the raw intelligence that had been collected.
Adam Schiff of California – the top Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee – has made a fool of himself preening and posturing on left-leaning cable networks CNN and MSNBC that evidence of “collusion” is just around the corner and that Russian hackers intervened in the election on the express orders of Vladimir Putin because of ideological sympathy with Trump’s nationalist campaign.
Warner’s comments were the first time a Democrat stepped away from the partisan kool aide and acknowledged the truth of the matter.
But Warner’s comments are backed up by the facts.
And they shoot down the crazy conspiracy theories promoted by Democrats like Schiff and anti-Trump fake news media outlets.
In special counsel Mueller’s indictment of 12 Russian intelligence officers for carrying out the hacks, Mueller included a communication between an organization believed to be WikiLeaks and the Russian hackers.
“Organization 1” communicated that they thought Trump was an extreme long shot to win so releasing the emails obtained from the Democratic National Committee would sow division between Bernie Sanders and Hillary Clinton supporters.
The communication read:
“we think trump has only a 25% chance of winning against hillary . . . so conflict between Bernie and hillary is interesting.”
Like every other media outlet and foreign intelligence service, the Russians figured Hillary Clinton was a slam dunk winner in 2016.
Their goal was to batter her in the campaign and so she would take office as a weakened President who both sides of the aisle were suspicious of.
The 2016 election activities were not designed to install Trump in the Oval Office because Putin could control his actions due to possessing blackmail.
The Trump administration’s tough stand on Russia – and the lack Russian leaking anything damaging – should dispel that nonsensical conspiracy theory promoted by fake news outlets. Trump’s victory was not tainted by Russian “meddling.”
And millions of Americans wonder why it took a Democrat so long to acknowledge the obvious – that Russia did not play favorites in the 2016 election.
