Democrats from Barack Obama on down feared this day.
The left knew it entered into an uneasy bargain with the protesters filling the streets of American cities.
Democrats got hit with the bad news about Black Lives Matter they feared would come.
Every election cycle, the Democrats count on 90 percent support from black voters.
Once the election ends the Democrats forget about black voters and refuse to lift a finger to help them even though black Americans are the party’s most loyal constituency.
Now with the rise of Black Lives Matter, Democrats are facing a dilemma.
BET founder Robert Johnson wrote in a letter to Black Lives Matter that the group should form their own independent political party.
“I am writing to you with a suggestion that Black Lives Matter (BLM) consider establishing a formal independent political party. The party could be founded on the principle articulated by the founding members of the Congressional Black Caucus in 1971. That formative principle stated, ‘Black people have no permanent friends, no permanent enemies.…just permanent interests,’” Johnson wrote to Black Lives Matter.
Johnson claimed that America deserved more than two choices at the ballot box.
“The effort to create an independent Black party, created specifically to address Black issues, is not a new idea among Black people. There are many people, both Black and white who believe that independent parties can make a significant contribution to the current political system as to how this nation of 300 million diverse citizens can be governed in the best interest of all Americans,” Johnson added.
Johnson wrote that while previous third parties were doomed to fail, Black Lives Matter right now stands a stronger chance because of its growing political strength.
“Many pundits will try to convince you that it is impossible for independent parties to exist in this country. They will argue that the American people seem to be satisfied with just two choices. To the contrary, I believe a politically astute and structured Black independent party, committed and engaged in the electoral process, can prove them wrong,” Johnson concluded.
Black Lives Matter forming its own political party would fracture the Democrat Party voting coalition.
A new party would drain support from the Democrats as the party is forced to answer for why it neglects black voters except when candidates for office try to whip up racial strife to win elections.
