Democrats are thinking about how to replace Joe Biden.
They’re scrambling to replace top leadership.
Democrats may have a plan to make this man president without a single vote.
President Joe Biden is celebrating his 80th birthday this month and is far and away the most elderly president America has ever had.
“I view myself as a transition candidate,” Biden said during the campaign.
But now Democrats are facing the question of how to replace Biden.
Vice President Kamala Harris should be the obvious candidate, but she is unpopular with the public, has staff who resign regularly, and is a disaster when she’s put in front of the camera.
The Hill published a possible plan that could have California Governor Gavin Newsom (D) bypass Harris and become president.
The idea was formulated by former Pentagon and White House official Douglas MacKinnon.
MacKinnon argued that the Democrats’ hatred of Trump might be enough to energize the Democratic base if Trump is the Republican nominee in 2024 however Biden and Harris would “likely lose to a strong Republican ticket of Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis.”
MacKinnon thinks that Gavin Newsom, who won California by a smaller margin than DeSantis won Florida, would be able to counter him on the national stage.
“Newsom won reelection easily and now has the luxury of turning his ambitious eyes completely toward the White House. The question then becomes, will his party turn its eyes toward him as the person who might save it from the Biden-Harris dilemma it is surely about to face?” MacKinnon added.
He thought there were two ways that Biden could hand over the reins of power to Newsom.
“In one scenario, Biden could ask Harris to resign and replace her with Newsom, who then becomes the heir apparent for 2024. Or Biden could replace Harris with Newsom and then resign himself, making Newsom the president before 2024 and arming him with the full force of the Oval Office.”
Almost 700,000 people relocated out of California just last year.
Newsom shut down the state because of Covid, made California a sanctuary state for child gender surgery, has put criminals back on the streets, and has done nothing to deal with the rampant homeless problem, but according to MacKinnon those are facts that voters can overlook.
“Republicans can write off Newsom all they want as the politician who ‘ruined’ California. The fact is, he is a proven vote-getter and has a formidable Democratic machine behind him. More than that, he has demonstrated that he is no political wallflower and seemingly has no intention of ‘waiting his turn.’”
Democrats are actually considering whether to run an old man whose memory is so bad that he can’t remember how his son died or the governor of a failed state that Americans are fleeing.
