The Democrats cannot afford another scandal.
Nancy Pelosi is about to enter the final phase of the biggest political fight of her career.
But now this secret from one Democrat’s past is about to ruin Nancy Pelosi’s life.
Michigan Democrat Rashida Tlaib is one of the Democrats brightest stars in the new class of freshmen members of Congress.
Tlaib, who became the first Palestinian woman elected to Congress last November, is hiding a terrible secret from her past.
The Michigan Democrat is one of a number of young party leaders who associate with anti-Semitic bigots.
The Daily Caller exclusively reported:
Tlaib, part of a heralded freshman class of House Democrats, has already come under scrutiny over her positions on Israel and ties to fringe figures. But TheDCNF’s investigation uncovered additional ties to anti-Semitism.
Tlaib is a member of the Facebook group “Palestinian American Congress,” where members often demonize Jews. The group’s founder, Palestinian activist Maher Abdel-qader, was a key fundraiser for Tlaib and organized campaign events for her around the country.
In January 2018, Abdel-qader shared an anti-Semitic video that claimed Jews aren’t actually Jewish, and invented their historical claim to Israel and secretly control the media.
Fox News Special Report host Bret Baier cited the Daily Caller article in an interview with Democrat National Committee Chairman Thomas Perez.
Baier pressed Perez on Tlaib and the growing number of Democrats comfortable with expressing anti-Semitic views.
“We had a host of concerns, and we wanted to make sure that we were clear in our values, and the Democratic Party, our platform has been very clear about Israel, it’s been very clear about dignity for both Israel and the Palestinian people,” Perez responded.
“A two-state solution is the way to go. A two-state solution negotiated directly by the parties, that is what we have to do, and frankly, I think this administration, through their wedge actions—their divide and conquer actions—has made that possibility of a two two-state solution that much more remote,” Perez concluded.
Baier followed up by citing Perez’s predecessor, DNC Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz, who had condemned the anti-Semitism in the leadership ranks of the Women’s March, and pressed Perez on whether he needed to follow suit.
“We’ve been very clear in the Democratic Party about inclusion, about fighting anti-Semitism,” Chairman Perez answered. “We were very clear, it was not hard after Charlottesville to condemn what took place. Unfortunately, for the president of the United States it was hard.”
However, Tlaib is not the only Democrat to face accusations of anti-Semitism.
Congresswoman Ilhan Omar from Minnesota kicked up a massive controversy when old tweets surfaced where she had accused Israel of “hypnotizing” the rest of the world.
And the liberal grassroots movement has embraced the BDS movement that pressures colleges and governments to boycott and divest from doing business with the Israeli government over what they see as oppression of the Palestinian people.
Democrats are being asked to answer for the bigotry in their ranks at the same time Pelosi and the White House enter the final phase of negotiations over funding for the border wall.
With some cracks already showing within the Democrat Party, this is the last distraction Pelosi and her leadership team needs.
