Democrats hate the 2nd Amendment more than perhaps anything else.
A citizen having the right to bear arms doesn’t fit their anti-freedom agenda.
And they just unveiled their new plan to end the 2nd Amendment.
Democrats Take Control Of The House
While Tuesday was far from a blue wave, Democrats now control the House.
Republicans gained seats in the Senate, which surprised most so-called “political experts.”
But without the House, pushing forward Trump’s agenda is going to be even more difficult.
Even more troubling is how Democrats will likely try to push pieces of their agenda to promote “bi-partisanship.”
Pushes for bi-partisanship from Democrats doesn’t mean much.
They will never support major issues from President Trump but will try to push for major wins.
One place they will likely try to push for comprise is the 2nd Amendment.
It is something that Republicans have made little gains on at the federal level since Trump’s election.
But Democrats have had some slight victories.
They were able to slip an expansion of the anti-gun NICS database in 2017’s historic tax cut bill.
It was able to pass by making it a condition of support from some moderate Republicans and Democrats.
Democrats Already Sounding The Alarm
Since the midterm elections, Democrats are sounding the alarm for more gun control.
Sen. Chris Murphy, who is the leading Democrat voice for gun control, tweeted out a list of recent mass shootings, saying, “WE CAN STOP ALL THIS.”
While it may be true that we can stop these shootings, Murphy’s solutions are extremely radical.
He supports all-out gun bans, ownership restrictions, and gun registration.
Those are solutions most Republicans outright reject.
But they are issues Democrats are fighting to pass.
While some of the more radical proposals have little chance, some of the other proposals could pass in the name of bi-partisanship.
Democrats could hold Trump’s entire agenda hostage until they begin passing some form of gun control.
It could be less extreme proposals, like expanding gun registration.
But an issue like that is extremely dangerous for gun owners, as registration lists in the hands of the government can become a confiscation list.
And that list can be used to take guns from citizens if more extreme gun control is later passed.
The Fight Over The Next Two Years
So one thing is clear, gun owners will have a big fight over the next two years.
Democrats are going to fight hard to pass their agenda.
That means that gun owners will have a lot to do.
And while President Trump will be ready to stand with them, it becomes hard with so much on his plate.
Trump has a host of issues he is taking head-on in the upcoming two years.
He is working on ending illegal immigration.
Trump is also trying to maintain the economic successes of the past two years.
With how well the economy is doing, he needs to keep Democrats from reversing his victories.
He will also have to fight back against efforts to impeach him.
That is the main goal of Democrats in the next two years after all.
Do you think Democrats will be able to pass gun control under Trump’s presidency?
